Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 167 - 168

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important

Every single concern is genuine

Every single member is important to us

We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

Hi! I am mom of an SR in 167! He's going to be a nuke. Currently he is the "laundry assistant" so he's cleaning the skivvies for all your SRs. haha! He claims that it is more like the "gossip room" than the laundry room lol. He has a brand new pair of hottie glasses that are ONLY given to SRs at boot camp. Lovely! Would love to connect with anyone else in these divisions! I reserved a room at the Marriott Residence Inn, arriving to Midway on the 29th, and will attend Sarge's Meet n Greet on the 30th! Hope to see you then! Because I am renting a car, let me know if you want to do a WalMart or mall run on the day of the 30th...

Hi! My son is a SR in 168, I also had a call from him on Saturday afternoon. He seemed very stressed. He said it was a lot harder than he thought it would be. He had a list of things that I needed to email so we didn't get to talk much about what he's been doing. He said the food was good, that he was getting up around 4 - which is OK with him because he's always been an early riser. He's a little older going in at the age of 23. I hope to get a letter from him this week that tells me a little bit more about what he's been doing and that he's OK. I saw you mentioned she passed her swim test, congratulations to her. I knew it was swimming week and asked my son if he had done it but never got the chance to see if he passed or not - the time went too quickly and I heard the 1 minute warning in the background. I too am worried but know he can do it.

hi johnsmom and hi emeraldgirl :) Today, Monday the 23rd, was DOT 1-4 (day of training = week 1, day 4) and there are 5 each week. Wednesday starts 2-1... That's what my SR told me on the phone Saturday anyway.

So the PFA (physical fitness assessment aka PFT or test) they took was just a baseline... they will have the first actual assessment in week 4 and if no more than 10-15 fail, they can get the olympic flag for their division to carry at PIR! The final PFA is in week 6.

hi RefuseToSink - thank you for the information on what they'll be doing this week. I've been trying to keep track and comment in my letters going out. It sounds like you had a nice chat with your SR on Saturday. I was on a landline when my SR called and had a problem with a lot of interruptions during the call. He was trying to give me an email address to send information to and he had to repeat it 7 times because of the interruptions. Do you know if this is normal or did you have this problem?

What kind of interruptions were they? like interruptions from his SR peers? from the division commanders? or from phone static type stuff? I haven't heard of that issue before.

For more "detailed" info pertaining to my call and my box arrival lol... check here if interested:

Hi my Sr is in Div 167...I finally got a letter from my son yesterday...Sounded like he was stressed but he wrote it a week after he was there. The letter was from March 12. No phone call yet but he did call his girlfriend whom he has a child with Saturday. I wish I could talk to him to see how he is doing now. I felt from the letter that things were tough.

Hi...My son is in Div 168. I received the first "letter" from him on Friday. The first pages were very down and he spoke that he considered "quitting" at times. Then as the days progressed things improved. They tried on and ordered their uniforms. He said that was a turning point for him. He felt proud and knew he'd be able to get through this. He called Thursday morning to get more information for his security clearance. He'll be going to IS school. Then to my surprise he called last night! There was such a huge difference in his attitude from last Saturday when he wasn't sure he was going to make it, to last nights call - him saying he can do it! Hopefully all the SR's that were feeling down the first weeks are feeling better and encouraged. He had 2 wisdom teeth out this week too. He commented on how important it is to get mail from home. He doesn't care if it's just about our boring days, it "brings him home" for the short time he's reading the letters and its a great way for him to end the day. I can't wait until May 1st!

hi everyone! my boyfriend is in div 167! I've gotten 2 phone calls already which was amazing! he sounded great both times, and i received his letters on friday after stalking the mail lady for about a week haha. he said the food is great, the work is tough but definitely worth it, he passed his first PFA but not his swimming test, he just needs a little practice. I'll be staying at the Navy Lodge but I'll be arriving thursday night so i will unfortunately miss Sarge's meet and greet :( I hope everyone gets a call or letter this week! hang in there guys! may 1st will be here soon!

Hello my son is in div 168, he is going to school in Pensacola Fl after PIR. Can anyone tell me when he will fly out or how much time we might have with him on Sat. before he leaves? Everything I'm reading or have been informed of says the A schools off of Great Lakes leave the next day after grad. Thanks

If they are not staying in GL, they fly out on Saturday at either super early am, mid morning/mid day, or suppertime. They get taken to the airport at like midnight (my son--who is going to Goose Creek said he heads to the airport at midnight Friday night), or at 330am. There won't likely be any time with your SR on Saturday unless you spend it there at the airport with him. That is what I plan to do anyway...

thank you RefuseToSink, i had a feeling that would be the case but wanted to see if anyone else had some info.
