For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

My Daughter leaves for Boot Camp June 17th
86 days until she departs. Having some growing pains with her as the reality of her leaving is getting closer. We went on vacation and several book fairs. She wanted to go crazy buying things. We had to remind her she leaves in 86 days and she can't take this stuff with her so a lot will sit until she gets out of A School. The recruiter told us that they are no longer considering her as officer candidate material. My hubby and I thought it was a bad idea to start with. She does not think outside the box and abstract concepts escape her. She is book smart but has no common sense and you can't teach common sense. I still think the Navy is a great future for her. Just trying to keep her focused until she leaves. Harder than it sounds. I love her dearly but there are days I am ready for her to depart now. My hubby and I have done the best we can and now she needs to start her adult life.
