For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

My First post

My daughter just left for bootcamp today i was okay until she left the MEPS center for the airport just very emotional right now. How long after do you have before you know your child's PIR date?

Marnapooh she will call you tonight when she gets there. You will get her box of belongings in roughly a week and then you will receive a form letter about a week after that giving you info on her division, PIR date and other pertinent info. This will by far be the roughest time for you, but once you receive that letter and have a "goal", it will get alot easier. All the moms on here are in the same boat (no pun intended) and that is the BEST support you can ask for! My son went through BC about a year ago and I sort of lurk here to offer support where I can

Hi Marnapooh. My son left one week ago for BC. It is rough the first few days-week but it does get better. Write letters each day. When you get the official form letter you will have the address. Just got my son's box yesterday and found a little note for me inside. This site is a lifesaver! Everyone on here knows what you are experiencing and are great support. Stay strong!

Thanks so much Momack for that information I've been writing letters since a week before she left I find these letters I have written since she left are more difficult because I keep tearing up on the paper can't tell how many times I've had to rewrite her letters :( But I'm sure it will get better it's just hard initially. Marnapooh, like Forever Proud my son also graduated boot camp last year and I stay with this site to offer support as well. Everyone on this site is extremely helpful and understanding of any questions you have. Your SR will advise you of their PIR date. And if you find out which division they are assigned to, you can start a separate discussion for parents of kids in that particular division with that graduation date. Welcome and good luck!!!!

So received my daughter scripted phone call on Monday night @ 9:20pm and after hanging up I thought I would not ever stop crying I'm just able to write now. She sounded really calm and confident I can't wait to receive her box and form letter now. I have been writing letters since her going away party the week before she left. Thanks everyone for your wonderful words of encouragement. Have a great evening.

I have a wonderful poem that helped me tremendously while my son was at boot camp. I post it on Boot Camp Moms every now and then, but it sounds like it is time again! Here it is:

Father, in the coming days, I will need You, but my recruit will need You more!
Let him perform his tasks with a sense of duty, not of anger or vengeance. Let his reflexes be quick and his hands steady. Let his head be clear and his eyes sharp. Let his mind and body be strong and his spirit stronger.

God, please stand by my recruit and watch his back when he cannot!
Father, I love this recruit of mine! Take from me what he needs and give me what he does not.

I will pace the nights, if it means he gets some sleep.
I will deal with fatigue, if it means he will have energy.
I will carry his fear, if it means it gives him courage.
I will take his pain, if it means he is healthy and whole.
I will take his anger, if it means he is at peace.
Take my love and pride and let him feel it!
Let him know that I am with him every step of the way!
Please, take from me what You can; I give it willingly and with love.
It is all I have besides my prayers.
Above all, please help my recruit to achieve his goal of becoming...
A United States Navy Sailor!

This I ask on bended knee, that which I cannot do without YOU!

OH - and keep that blue candle burning! gives you an extra sense of connection during times when you are feeling down.

That's beautiful Iove it after reading it I felt much better after writing my daughter a letter. Thanks and I will keep the blue candle burning. I really appreciate all the support from this group don't know how I would have made it without such supportive people in the same shoes as everyone here.

Oh my, I just joined this wonderful group and this is so beautiful. This is something that I needed along with my prayer that I would say morning, noon and night for my SR. I really touched my heart. My SR was to graduate today but was in FIT, but today, I got a call from my SR with that calm voice of "Mom I passed." Oh the joy that filled my heart. Though my SR did not partake in a PIR/graduation to me my SR still graduated. The Lord works in many different ways, and this was his way. I am so proud of my SR and all of the other SR's because it takes courage and our children have that along with God by their sides.
