Hey. Good morning. I have to drop my son off at his recruiter on May 4th. He will get sworn in at MEPS on the 5th and off he goes. When he first enlisted in the fall it seemed so far away and now the time is flying. Anyone else out there who is getting REALLY EMOTIONAL? He is my oldest.

MYKIDSMOM AND RHONDA: And then they were gone..... Oh believe me I know how it feels to have your child leave. No matter what I say you're going to be sad and it's okay. Try to keep busy and the one thing my son told me when he was in bootcamp was LETTERS, every SR everyday was waiting for the mail, how they all talked about what's happening at home, world news, etc. he said some of the kids read the letters outloud and showed each other pictures. It's so important to keep the letters going. Sometimes I would write 2 letters a day, I even took pictures of his dogs, cat, birds and fish and guess who's taking care of them now? UGH lol. When my son left I felt like a piece of my heart was gone as well. I have the level headed mom on one shoulder and the emotional mom on the other. Emotional mom is winning. I was allowing myself to feel every bit of sadness. I can say I was not prepared for the overwhelming since of heartache that I felt. My friends I've made on this site saved me! They say misery loves company and there may be some truth to that. Laughing...But I also feel we are building each other up with our honesty of how we feel. Look at what is next for your SR's life. This is my son's first week of A school and he's doing great I talk to him all the time, sometimes I look at the phone and say "him again" laughing we FACETIME so I see him and he sees me while we talk. whereas a few weeks ago I was in your shoes. This too shall pass.... Very quickly. They will be back home soon so be proud of your future sailors please stay on this site if you have any questions or concerns YOUR ADMINS ARE phenomenal and GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL!!!! (((HUGS)))

Drew7062, not sure why your sentimental words hit so hard just now as I read them.  You are so right.  Emotional Mom does win sometimes.  Boot Camp and likely Hell Week for our son, Div 181, is underway, I think.  Worry about him and the others so much.  My grandmother once said, "worry is like a rocking chair...it keeps you going but never gets you anywhere".  Lol  I think that is part of being a Mom.  The emotions just built up a bit this morning here and I truly consider myself a "together" person.  However, I handle my emotions by tearing up often.  Darn.  We are also moving tomorrow from a large house to a smaller condo.  Though I am very excited about the move, it makes you reminisce through so many things which is also likely why I am teary.  Thank you for your words.  So glad you can FACETIME with your son and experience more daily updates.  I cannot wait for these moments.  I am also glad that he has adjusted in his first week!

LOVING MOM: oh I love that about the Rocking Chair! That is so truest amazes me sometime how people tel me I'm so good at helping they say I'm a true humanitarian but when it comes to ME I feel helpless, sometimes hopeless, my daughter would have been 26 on May 5 yeah her birthday is fast approaching and guess what.. I don't have any advice for myself sorry kind of emotional myself right now myself tearing up but Loving Mom I thank you for helping me as well

Thank you Drew7062! Although I am sitting in my schools faculty room with tears streaming down my face. I literally feel like my heart is actually breaking but I know this will be the best thing for my young man. I am so glad I found this site!!

Drew7062, I am so sorry for your pain and loss. Breaking hearts stink, but the LORD sees every tear and will one day wipe them all away. Let them flow, and then go on in HIS strength. I lift my eyes up to the mountains- where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, maker of heaven and earth.
Mykidsmom, for me the hardest time was before our son left. Anticipating that separation was awful. I was always crying and grieving even before he was gone. Then I was able to be strong for my husband and son on the day he left. My husband just "lost it" on that last day. Our son asked that we not cry at the recruiters when we dropped him off...God did give me that strength. Praying for you both!

My son who is usually always out with his friends invited me to go bowling last night and to work out with him this morning. That is his way of showing me that he will miss me too. We also have a date this afternoon to watch Gane of Thrones. You are correct. The anticipation is the worst and Gid will surely see me through this. God bless!!!

MICHELLE0206: Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Hi everyone been gone a couple days trying to keep myself busy, planting flowers getting my garden bed in order. It's called Angel's Garden. You are sooooo sweet Michelle everyone is so supportive of EVERYONE not just me. It just hurts so bad sometime almost unbearable and I know this site is not for this sort of thing and I apologize but everyone is so kind and I look so forward to talking to everyone and CATMOM s scriptures just help me so much AND Ms Diannep and all. :-) I have 5 children although the 21 year old has passed away I still say I have 5. I miss her terribly but I know I will see her again. I would not move forward if it meant leaving Angel (that's my daughters name) behind. No, I do not leave her behind and move on, I move forward, with all 5 children – one running a bit ahead¦ just out of sight. Thank you all for listening.. I want to congratulate ALL the new sailors and all the beautiful moms that supported your children give YOURSELF a pat on the back you all deserve it. Love yall Drew
