Is there anyone out there who has heard from their sailor? I know the call will come later this evening, but I know some sailors are texting on the bus. Mine just sent me a short message. No response. Don't know if he is on the bus or still at the airport. Just wondered what everyone else is hearing.

Nope, the paperwork in "the box" is not needed. See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC.
Lemonelephant, Why was my son's civilian pants rolled up? Somebody mentioned that but I don't remember what was said. Thanks.
You can find that answer in Arrival and What Happens at the RTC. The recruits roll up their pant legs to measure their feet for their boots and shoes and most don't take the time to unroll them.
Thank you, I thought so. I had read it somewhere, but there was so much to read and remember, I didn't know where that info was!!! HAPPY MOTHER"S DAY ALL.
You are very welcome.
Hello May 5 recruit families
I got the box today. Fed ex left a sticker for me and I went today to pick it up. Right on top was a white tube sock!!!! It was brand new. So someone out there has a missing sock, dear lord let it not be my son..... Should I drive up to GL and see who lost one? Was there so much confusion in the phone calling and packing up of the box that socks were flying all over? Was my son so tired he accidentally mixed up everything? Am I worrying about the lone sock too much. I think I'll make a white sailor sock monkey out of it!
LOL!!! I think we should ALL go up and investigate that lone sock mystery!!! Is it large enough to fit whatever valuables they were allowed to keep, wallet, address book, stamps, some money? I"m sure it is! LOL!!!
That was the mate to his "Valuables Sock". Your then Sailor will want that sock to complete his Sea bag. He actually will have to replace it since it is missing from the RTC.
Okay, thanks LEMON! Do I mail it back or bring to graduation?
I did call his recruiter to report it!
Ask him in a letter after you receive the form letter what he wants you to do with it. He may have replaced it by then.
I think some divisions are earlier than others. I got my box on Satu, but no letter. That hasn't kept me from writing him letters though. Hope you are doing okay.
