Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 231 and 232

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important

Every single concern is genuine

Every single member is important to us

We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

So did we!!  So thankful!!  We heard 231's RDO (?) yelling too.  We couldn't understand what he said though.  Glad your son sounded better, Alabamatlab.  Ours sounded good too.  He said their RDC is  seen as one of the toughest, but they're doing ok.  It sounds like inspections are hard and their division is still figuring out how to work as a team and help each other.  "Hell week" is coming....with lots of inspections.  They have two weeks to get ready for it. They got a flag for doing well on an academic test.  After our last call that kept cutting, I'm so grateful for this one.  It's midnight here but I don't know that I'll sleep for a while.

Did you get a call today? If not, I'm trying to think of some more info. They have a "Baby Division" and now have a "Super Baby Division." Not official names but that means that they aren't the new kids on the block. They had a rough day today and their RDO got very upset with them. She was sick and gave up and went home. My SR is sick again. This time he went to the doctor.

The inspections are actually done by division. So either they passed or didn't, as a division. So while our SRs did pass, the division didn't. I suspect this is all pretty typical. They have watch. Mine was up at 3 this morning and watch is for 2 hours. Then they were up at 5. They get from 9 until 10 at night for some personal time. Writing letters or taking a shower if they didn't get one that day. It's getting a little better as far as the RDOs go. Sometimes they even joke around with them. They march sometimes in their boots and sometimes in their tennis shoes. He thinks they may be one of the first to do this. They found that marching in boots all the time was causing a lot of injuries.

That's some of what I remember. We asked him about Battle stations and he said he doesn't know much about it. They're not allowed to talk about it! Can't wait for that time to get here.

Finally got to talk to my son tonight too!!  He sounded so great. We were able to talk for approximately 45 minutes. He didn't mention earning a flag. He did say their RDC is nice when things are going well but if they mess up he yells. He is getting letters I'm sending on an almost daily basis. But said they are unable to write only once weekly.

Hi everyone, this site has been so very helpful to get additional information and to find some great creative ways to stay in such with our recruit. We used the "the letter from our dog idea" which was quite hilarious as he is only 7 months old and full of antics.

We got a 45 minute phone call on Sunday and definitely heard a lot of RDC's yelling in the background. Son said it is very normal and expected. While he still has his EPO spot he got fired from his appointment as section leader. That job was basically helping the recruits with their bunks and folding laundry correctly. On a side bar, my friend who is no longer active in the Navy said most recruits get fired from a job and then given a new one. I understand he is doing his educational post very well so that left firing as section leader. I didn't pass on this info to him as it is part of the SR mental game.

As far a seeing recruits marching on Grad day, Max said that is an honor position. They have 90 people in their barracks. and the only time they marched to the graduation station was to get information on proper female to male/ male to male "behavior."

He says the group does well when kept busy but they had some down time on Saturday so they decided to volunteer to clean their barracks for 2 hours. That kept them out of any trouble but than they were assigned to clean the barracks by their RDC's on Sunday.

My son no one should take personal about being yelled at. In fact he said he has to try to keep a straight face at the silliest things recruits get yelled at for.

So my son is just looking forward to moving onto A school. He said unless he breaks a leg, he'll be there on the 10th.

Hope you are all feeling as confident and please feel free to ask me any more details.

Mary

Mary, I asked my SR about your son today and about him helping them study (something my SR needs) and he said Max is doing a very good job and has been helpful. Way to go! That's very important as I am sure there are plenty of them that need help studying.

Heads up! Just got a nice long phone call!!

So glad he called you! Interesting information about the ones that got in trouble. My SR didn't tell us about that. He did tell us that he got 0 hits on both inspections yesterday! One had to do with weapons. He also passed his PFA. He was over one minute under the run time. He did say things were so much better with the RDCs. They even did something wrong and the RDC didn't yell! He's still sick. Been sick the whole time he's been there.

He's still carrying the "stick" but now has a new job - laundry. He said he wanted to do it and they got inspected right after he took the job and passed. I asked my husband if I was the only one that finds it funny that OUR SR is in charge of laundry??!! When he lived at home, you had to pole vault over the mounds of clothes in his bedroom and bathroom!!

Hard to believe Battlestations is about two weeks or so away!

Aren't all these calls great?!  Our SR said the division as a whole did much better on this latest inspection.  I'm glad all our guys sound good, although I'm sorry so many are still sick.  Anyone else's SR on the part of Ship's Staff that takes care of the rest of the "ship"?  They get to leave the division to clean sometimes.  He said they get to spend time with more senior recruits and learn from them.  They also miss out on some of the yelling while they're gone : ).

Just?  Sounds very responsible to me!  I think my son mostly cleans...and is in charge of a cleaning supply source.  It seems to me all the jobs are good experience, though.

Wow.  That's a lot of loss.  I wonder if that's normal.

Mine said some were gone but didn't say it was that many! And I didn't know there were girls!!!

The flag you are seeing is actually the division number flag, and I can't see enough of the ship flag to make it out.

It might be your recruits, but it has me wondering since they are also carrying an "earned flag", and what appears to be a division flag. Your recruits would probably not yet have either of those. The pictures following those might be of your recruits since they are not carrying those flags.

Keep looking, you never know.
