I had to say goodbye to my son yesterday! It was the hardest thing I've ever done. I am so sad that after graduation we only get to see him for that day before he leaves for Pensacola! Coming home to his bedroom with everything here feels so much like death! I can't stop crying!! This is sooo hard!!! How do we get through this?

My son should be getting there at some time today. I know what your going through
Where is he leaving from? Good luck to you! His short little wellness call will help when you receive it today! Keep me posted!

My son left from Knoxville, TN yesterday.  I got the phone call last night. I know what you are feeling.  I am trying my best to keep my mind busy, but it keeps wondering to Joseph.  I guess you just keep putting one foot in front of the other & start writing those notes of encouragement.  Good luck!!!

We got to go to MEPS with him in St.Louis and say goodbye from there. Our home is so empty without him. I've been praying constantly. I know God is protecting and sustaining him. This is all soo hard...no more living at home again! What rate is he? My son is aircrew. Keep me posted and good luck!
My son left last week. I thought I'd be miserable. Unbelievably, it was much better than I thought I would be. I had/have my moments though. I've turned my worries over to God. I asked for protection, guidance, and endurance for my son. I need to be strong so he's focused on task at hand and not worried about his family at home. I visit his bedroom often to feel his presence. I sit on his bed, touch his things, & look at pictures. I feel so much better afterwards. I found a note he hid in his treasure box. Made me laugh. It said he knew I'd look in there even though I wasn't supposed to. Be strong. I want to channel my energy & strength to my son. I believe he can feel my anxiety just as I feel when things aren't right with him. I'm a newbie also. I feel in my heart he's okay. I'll pray with and for you!
I keep going in his bedroom also. Doing his laundry has been awful! I am doing lots of praying and know God will protect him and guide and sustain him. Just so hard to let go knowing he'll never live at home again! Keep me posted on your son!

I too have turned my worries over to God. Turning my worries over to God has helped me worry less and remain positive.

My son was supposed to leave yesterday for boot camp, he and the other recruits got to the airport after parting MEPS and their flight had been cancelled. So five hours later they ended up at hotel. He left this morning and I just got my "I made it call"... I feel better now. Felt so bad for him he's been so ready to go since signing his papers in October and having yesterday's confusion, I can only imagine what he was feeling. I'm a little tearful at the moment since his next call according to him will be in 3 weeks! But I'm proud and so glad he chose the Navy over college!
How frustrating! Why was their flight cancelled? It's wonderful to receive that call from them isn't it? My husband was in the Navy and has shared what to expect in boot camp. I've started writing to him and didn't dare let him know how sad I am, just how proud I am. I'm doing lots of praying! Good luck to him...keep me posted :)
I have no idea, it wasn't storms. They hadn't happened yet. My son said that the flight had been cancelled for over a week! Guess someone somewhere didn't relay the information. He was so frustrated because he was so anxious to finally go! But he made it and sounded good! I did well...I cried after the call. I'm just relieved he's finally there. Good luck to your son! I'm sure you're just as proud as I am. What a wonderful thing to choose to do! Lucky your husband was in the know. We have had numerous military members in our family, but no recent Navy. My paternal grandfather was the only one.
Having received "the" call I feel like I can move on with my day, was so afraid to do anything fearing I'd miss it!
My son left yesterday from Little Rock,AR. Got the call last night around 10:30, he said he would call in about 3 weeks. It's going to be a l..o..n...g three weeks. So proud of him but it's difficult.
I'm with you on the long three weeks! Did you send him with a phone card? We didn't. The recruiter said they could buy them there. I have been an emotional wreck! Are you holding up ok? What rate is your son?
