My son is leaving on July 15 and I believe he is ready to go. After his DEP meetings, he is always pumped up about leaving. With prom, graduation, parties and a lot of activities before his send-off, I think he will be all-set... I have always kept him close to me, but now its time to let go. I'm learning that daily!! Love me some Shakil.....

My son reports to MEPS on the 15th and ships out to Great Lakes on the 16th. Who knows, maybe our boys will end up together.
They probably will. This last week as been an on-edge experience. Last night he literally sat on my lap. He was joking around, but I was sooo taken back from when he was my little boy. I still cant believe he is about to become an sailor. even if they are not together, please keep in touch. We will get through it together. How are you?

Lol!!! Welcome to the site. Did you join bootcamp mom yet?
Thanks! Yes, I joined the bootcamp group. I am not super good at navigating all this stuff - frankly, every time I post something, I am wondering if I'm in the right spot or if I've goofed up. Oh well, I am enjoying reading everyone's thoughts and I am comforted knowing that of course it isn't just me. :)
Just checking in with those who had a son or daughter ship out in the last couple of days - how are you holding up?
