Was wondering if anyone had any info on the hull swap in San Diego.  I would like to fly out to visit my son while he is there.  This would be the first time I have gone to see him and would love for anyone with experience to give me some pointers!

Thank you so much!!!

There is suppose to be a list they will put us on to get on base when it comes in, just like when we went to bootcamp the GW Ombudsman has said. I talk to my son pretty much daily (messages) and he said no list yet probably not until they are finished with the Tailsman Sabre

My son told me his squadron will be going to Nevada during the hull swap... anyone else have kids in that squadron?

Hi my son is also on the hull swap in San Diego and I've been trying to get info myself on how i can see him.I also have purchased my tickets to San Diego and hope to be there a few days after they arrive. But am afraid they won't get leave ?? Does anyone have more information on this? I have not seen him in over 1yr 1/2.

Thank you very much any info will be very appreciated.

No, they are not getting leave.  My son said that I may as well stay home, because it's a working port, and they will not be getting time off.  He is on 12 hour shifts and will only be able to visit 4 hours a day.  Told him my kindle is charged up - 4 hours is good enough for me!

So I'll be able to see my son for 4 hrs a day?

Thank you so much for responding. I would fly down for even 15 minutes a day.

Whatever is off time is for him you will get to see him during that. Some may even get a day off here and there. They just can't take " leave". But we are going in hopes of even having a dinner with him. It's been a year since his dad has seen him.

Hi that sounds good enough for me. Both his sisters are going, myself and my husband. He will see his whole family. It has been 11/2 years since we've seen him . Boy do we miss that kid !! But each day I wakeup with such Pride ,that he chose to Join the Navy.

Thank you for the info.

I'm still looking for moms of sailors heading to Nevada during the hull swap? Anyone????

I'm going!

Hi there!  It looks as though none of us have been given a straight answer yet.  All I can say, is that I booked my flight and hotel.  Unfortunately, there seems to be a couple of bases there, and I have no idea where to go.  I have put in numerous phone calls and messages, which not one of them have been returned.  I'm traveling with 2 children so I am wondering what I need to do for identification/paperwork.  One has a driving permit, but I don't have anything for the other.  Does anyone have that info or address to the base?

Hi Kimberly,

I thought that there was only one base in  Coronado,San Diego. I have also booked airfare and room. My son told me that they will arrive soon. I will do more research on this and get back to you.
