Anyone else having their family member leaving Aug.11? It's eight weeks away and I'm super emotional about it. It's been great reading all the information on here would be nice to find someone with my son's date.

I have many terms and abbreviations in What does ??? mean? (A Guide to Navy Abbreviations and Terminology). Just keep scrolling down once the page opens.

My children choose not to have any contact with their father, so I speak from experience. If she does not list you on the Access List when the time comes 3 to 10 days before PIR, then don't waste your money and go to GL because you most likely won't see her because if she doesn't want to see you it probably won't happen without a scene. BC and PIR are about her, not you.

Do write to her if you happen to get her address and encourage her in this dream she has. If she writes back, then that is great. If she tells you not to continue writing--a possibility you need to be aware of, then respect her wishes because she does not need the stress of contact if she does not want it. I know it's hard, but she needs to keep her focus on getting through BC and outside stress could jeopardize that.

Thank you for the advice but as her parents we would never just "give up and stop trying". We have never thought that BC & PIR are about us, but we are going to continue to support her, because parents don't walk away from there children just because things get "bumpy", no matter how old the child is. We would never cause a scene, nor would she. I know you said you were speaking from experience, but that's not how our situation is. I will continue to write her everyday and if she chooses not to read them then that is her choice but I will never give up on her.

You are her parents, but she is an adult and you need to respect the adult choices she makes even if you don't agree with them. It doesn't mean that you quit loving her and praying for her and wanting the best for her.

BTW, I never said "give up and stop trying." I said to "respect her wishes."

Love the quiet & clean part made me laugh!
Good evening everyone! End of day three without out SR. I kept really busy today but had a moment sitting at the kitchen table when I realized he wasn't coming home after work or school like he has for so many years! But I rejoiced in knowing he was doing what he felt passionate about so that made me smile.
Everyone have a good Friday! !
Hugs!!

PIR--- I've been checking out some of the facebook pages for Navy moms and Boot Camp 101. I read that alot of loved ones posts who had recruits that left on August 11th seem to have thier PIR date already? (10/9/15)  How can that be? Are they just guessing? Am I missing something? Cuz I'd love to know when I can see my girl. Humm...

You won't have a scheduled date until you receive your form letter.  I think a lot of people are making a good guess.  9 Fridays would be 10/9.  I am anxious too but it is probably best to wait. :)

I agree I am waiting!

Our recruiter said probably October 9 but he said wait for the letter because sometimes if a group before them isn't full and they arrive early in the week like our did they be the Friday before. So I'm waiting until I get the letter.

Exactly.

PIR will either be 10/02/2015 if your recruit is in a Push Division and is in a division from last week's TG or 10/09/2015 if your recruit is in a division from this week's TG. It is very unlikely for a recruit arriving at the beginning of the week to have 10 Fridays. See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC.
