Be very aware when posting about your SRs who are in this division. Make sure you read the OPSEC rules (everyone should).

Although your SR is still in BC, what they are doing may be slightly different from what the other divisions in this training group are doing. It is also recommended that you go into your "settings" (clickable link on the right side) and change your privacy setting to "private" and change everything to friends only.

Please still use the main wall to post general questions, and concerns, such as meet and greet questions etc. Specific questions regarding the 800 division should be posted here.

We “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion groups as often as we would like to, and the ladies helping out with the 800 divisions don't always get to the main wall as often as they would like.

Every single question that is asked is important

Last Wednesday I got an hour long phone call from my husband. I don't know if their calls are every Wednesday or if that was just when they could call that time.

Wow SailorsWife, we are so jealous hahah we only got a 15 minute call last Wednesday from our son.  So glad to have that. :)  Hope your little family is doing well and hoping they get to call again this Wednesday!!

I was super happy about a call at all! I think it's because he only has to do his job on Fridays and Sunday's so he actually said he has quite a bit of free time. Plus last Wednesday he had to call me for some more information so I guess they just let him talk for awhile. We're doing good:) I hope yall are good! Hopefully we'll all get calls tomorrow and mail on Thursday!!

My SR sent a brief letter from last Sunday and I though I would share some of what he said.  My SR said this last week the Div is settling into their routine.  They are getting to know each other and what the RDC expects.  They had a locker and bunk inspection that went well for my SRs group but another group somehow did not stow their backpacks right.  For that the entire Div was IT'ed, which means the entire Div was put through Intensive Training (push-ups, sit-up and the like).  This is typical for how these things go early on and nothing to worry about.  They must be successful as a team or share the consequences and they get positive and negative reinforcement on this through out.  This reminds me of a story someone told me about his boot camp experience when someone fell asleep on watch.  When discovered the entire div was awoken and made to "swim" in their under ware in a pool outside were the temps were below freezing.  This was not in the U.S. and many years ago so I am sure the U.S Navy deals with this differently but be assured that sleeping on watch will be corrected.   Please tell your SRs in future letters not to sleep on watch since I don't want to know what happens.   Hope this helps and go 819.

My son is too. Although I have to say that he didn't sound disheartened or stressed. His first letter tore me up. I think they are really starting to bond together. He was excited about the SEALS that came and spoke. I'm counting the days until PIR. He is 21, and has been on his own for a few years, so I haven't been as sad as some of the other moms with their 18 year old babies leaving the nest. I do miss him terribly though.

I did not see Div 819 in the latest pictures posted to the Navy RTC Facebook page posted today.  They must be too busy to for the camera person to catch them.   Go 819!

My son is too a part of DIV 819. Counting the days to PIR. Miss him terribly, but am so proud of his work. In his first letter he sounded miserable and in shock, quite honestly. He was homesick, had a cold and was shocked they gave him a wool blanket. LOL. Missing the comforts of home. The folding was tough. In his second letter he sounded so much more positive and adjusted. They work hard everyday, but they know this is only the beginning. Dive school will be tougher. Quitting is not an option for him. Can someone explain to me what kinds of "jobs" they are assigned and why? Does everyone get a job?

I know that not everyone gets a job and that you can be "fired" from your job. That's what my husband told me. He's a RPO (religious petty officer) and I know that they have laundry and mail jobs. I'm sure they have a bunch more but I don't know all of them. I'm not sure how you get selected to have a job either; I would like to know that.

Hi, I'm a "veteran" mom who moderates a group for moms (some wives/girlfriends too) to discuss what to expect in PreBUD/s and BUDs. As you know, once boot camp is over in Great Lakes they head across the street to do PreBUD/s. 

I am on here specifically to help you avoid mistakes that some spec op moms have made in the past on this site. With that being said please take seriously when I say there are instructors on this site. Remember this is a public site and everyone and anyone can join this boot camp group if they so choose. There are many lurkers on this site and we don't need to make it easier for them to discover everything about our sons and their families. Facebook is generally strongly discouraged by the NSW (Naval Special Warfare) community as far as support groups. It is just too visible and easy to find information. I have a personal FB page but belong to no Navy groups for that reason.

So being that instructors are on this site, please do not post anything specific that your son/husband/boyfriend told you about their division in boot camp training (or PreBuds or BUD/s for that matter). That means no discussion of how many people are in each division, how many dropped, how many got rolled, who failed what, etc. Again, this is a PUBLIC site. As a potential spec op mom, get used to second guessing yourself on what you are posting.

I did see someone looking for pictures of their recruit on the Facebook page. There are no pictures for a reason. NSW does not like social media, discourages it and it is a security risk to post pictures of potential SEALs. Oftentimes on sites you may see pictures where the faces are blurred; this just means the guys are active duty and their faces cannot be revealed. Keep in mind you should not have your real name or real hometown on this site and your profile should be private. If anyone asks you for your son's first and last name, do not give it out! 

I know this sounds like a lot of information but pay attention to these guidelines for the sake of your son. You can still keep in touch with others who are going through the same thing, you just need to be careful. I suggest you order PIR ribbons with your division number on it and at PIR make a point to introduce yourself and exchange contact info at that time.
