My son swore in yesterday and has a date of August 12th for BMT. His contract is for Aviation Ordnanceman (AO). He is super excited. I am feeling emotional and overwhelmed. Anyone else have a son leaving on August 12th, 2015?

Yes, FedEx must have a signature to deliver "the box" so if you must leave home leave a signed and dated note telling the FedEx driver to leave a box from GL. See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC for more on what is happening and what to expect.
Oh my gosh I totally understand that. I would have reacted the same. Soon hopefully. I have never been so excited to receive a box of dirty clothes.... Not that I have received any before lol
Our lil Kids miss their big brother as well. Wanted to let you know I just recived our SR box, so yours should come very soon... Never have I been so happy to get dirty clothes...

Hi, my son left on the 12th as well. His brother who is 12 is named Jack is missing him like crazy!!! They were super close. He is starting 7th grade tomorrow so I am hoping that school will help keep his mind busy.
Praying for you and your family.

Josh's box looked the same. I'm lucky I got the box because he put the wrong zip code on it. We moved just after graduation and he hasn't learned the new address yet. I'm really hoping I didn't write it down wrong because that may delay his form letter.
My son left on August 12th from Houston, TX. I received the I'm here call and his box. Have not received his form letter yet. Anxiously waiting!!!
Join PIR 10/09/2015 TG 48.
Note that Columbus Day, a federal holiday, is on 10/12/2015, so those who have recruits who will be staying in GL for “A” School or Training should plan to leave late Monday or on Tuesday if they are able to do that. Bamafan, your then Sailor will still most likely fly out on Saturday, but may fly out on Sunday since his "A" School is in Pensacola.
I'm glad to help.
