Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

It will be hard but I'm trying to focus on the positive things. Today is their last P day and then they can get on with it which means we are that much closer to talking to them/seeing them :) Next Tuesday will be a week since I've seen mine and I will be glad a week will be over with already! It is nice to be able to vent/talk to everyone on here going through the same thing. Hang in there. Hopefully, this will go by fast.

Kimberly, there are at least 4 regular P-days and weekends are HOLD days. Those who arrived on the 18th may still be in P-days through at least tomorrow. See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC.

Yes, it is soooo nice to have support from other moms that are going through the same thing. Tuesday will be a week for my son also. Just waiting for that form letter! Missing him everyday, just not knowing is so hard for me. We will all get through this together, you are all strong ladies!

Betty, today I was having a very hard day. Nobody was home and I was going crazy setting here. I had to leave the house. My son left on the 18th. It has not even been a week yet.

I know exactly how you feel. My son & I have always been so close and him not here is killing me. I have to keep his bedroom door closed. Not being able to text or hear his voice. I am trying to be strong but it's so hard not knowing.

Betty, try to stay busy. It helps taking your mind off of it. Make plans with friends, etc to make the time go by faster.

My son arrived at boot camp from Niagara falls on the 18 th. He called at 8 . Fri. I think Fed ex tried delivering his box. Anxiously awaiting for his address. I have a ongoing letter I am writing to send. I found some nice cards at Hallmark today for military. As many of you I miss my son so much and worry about him. Not being able to talk or txt is really hard.

I hope that you get the box tomorrow. It will probably take a load off. I'm still anxiously waiting for mine. Thank you for letting us know about the military cards! I've had a hard time finding them.

My daughter left on the 18th as well and I still cry almost every day at the strangest times. Her box of belongings arrived Friday and I open it and touch her clothes and cry. I am so very proud of her decision to join the Navy but did not realize how much this first eight weeks would affect me. Just like everyone else, I cannot wait to receive the packet of information so I can send her letters. Thank you everyone for your posts and comments, it is reassuring to know I am not alone in this journey.

Welcome to the emotional roller coaster called "my child is in basic I'm about to lose my mind blues" I too have cried everyday since the 18th and even tho I am very happy and proud for my son, I can't help but feel this moment never will end. Navy moms are strong moms and not for the weak, so give yourself a pat on the back for being the strong encouraging mom you are. We are here for you and all of us are in it together, remember today we are one day closer to seeing, and hugging our children! As I have said from the beginning my son I know is fine, me however I'm still a mess, filled with sadness, pride. Joy, happiness and alot of missing my kid sickness! We can do this! Navy moms the weak need not apply. :-)
