For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

I Googled Navy AROC to say it right. There's a cadence YouTube video there too.
This person said it pretty good.
Assistiant Recruit Chief Petty Officer: spoken AROC, abbreviated ARCPO (It is a position given to recruits, that means nothing after Basic). He is second to the RPOC: spoken RPOC, abbriviated RCPO, Recruit CPO. -

Thank you so much! Duh, I could have googled it myself :). I am glad that all those vocal lessons and All-state rehearsals have found a practical use - I don't know if they volunteer or are assigned to the position, but if given the option, he would have volunteered for singing cadence ASAP!! He had actually been considering auditioning for the Navy Chorus, but decided on th Nuke field figuring that he could always find a way to sing somewhere :)

BTW....The Navy AROC's are THE BEST. I was at Ft. Sam (A school for Corpsman) and had a chance to watch the Army and Air Force marching to chow from classes as well as our Sailors....you could not touch our Sailors! They were sooo sharp and everyone was in step not to mention the AROC's voices! My son had a chance to do that at A school. AWESOME. I realize that they, theoretically, are not Recruit's anymore once they have had PIR. However, my son still referred to the one calling cadence as AROC when he was at A school. That's what everyone called them.

Well that's great! Now let's see if he keeps the job :). My husband and I were chuckling, because I am not sure how those initial jobs are given - the RDCs don't know them, after all, but if they asked for a volunteer 'leader', Ben might have played a bit of 'wait & see'.....but if they asked for a volunteer singer, he would have leapt to his feet with a crisp, "aye aye!" I need to remember to ask him how he got 'the job' - and whether he still has it, for that matter! I would love to see him calling cadence! My husband was in the Color Guard for the Old Guard in Washington, DC, and was the one who called orders, so it could bevome a family tradition :)

My son wrote to me and told me he was promoted to AROC, but never mentioned anything about singing (although he is pretty good at singing, he sang the solo at graduation) but he said he's second in command and he get's to yell at the others!!! I don't know if this was a one day thing or what.

Congratulations, they are chosen. It's always great when they standout. My girl was chosen Master at Arms and was the only one to keep that position through BC (they can have their position taken away). She later went on to be chosen out of 1400+ recruits to receive the Mikitary Order of World Wars award. Hooyah to your sailor. These are tough but exciting times.

BridgetTheBrit, My son was standing watch one night and one of the RDC's came up to him and told him to state the chain of command starting with the RDC's and go all the way up. My son was able to do it all the way to the top without error and the RDC told him he had an excellent memory and they made him AROC. Just received a letter last week that he is now Master At Arms. Just praying things will go well for him and PIR 8/16 gets here quick. Hope your son does great!

Good for your son - you should be proud, I would be too! That is interesting that they take that time to look over what is coming in, on the other hand it makes sense - you would want to start as well as you can - on paper anyway!!! I hope my SR works hard & sticks to it - he is planning on going nuke, but it us always good to be selected as a leader, regardless of possible pay grade promotions :)
