For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

My son told us he is sticks/flags. He doesn't sing or play any instruments so wondered how he got picked for this Performance Div. Sounds like they are doing pretty good. Hope to here from him again.

Mj, There are lots of "reasons they get picked for the 900 division. Height can play a part, how they "carry" themselves when they arrive, there may have been something on his recruitment papers that gave them a heads up, who knows. :)

Our daughter is 02/951 and is playing the cymbals. She loves her time practicing with her unit on Saturday afternoons! I also hope to share experiences with fellow 02/951 family members.

my son is ship 02 div 951....I noticed a couple of you stated your recruit played a musical instrument my son played an instrument for 6 years and was also in mastery band for 3 years. He called about a week ago and informed me that he is a member of the color guard and will be participating in the graduation. He is going to carry the Navy flag. I am so extremely proud of him and am looking forward to seeing him. He is going to Pensecola for his school and also informed me that he will be able to come home for Christmas because the base will be at stand for the holiday.

My husband is in 951 and when I told him about joining this site he was excited to know I could be connecting with family members of his fellow SRs!
AAAAND we're halfway done with this!! Only 4 more weeks :) -

My son is also in 951, missed the mail today, but hopefully there is letters in it. We got two last week and a friend of his got one today also. If I don't get one maybe his Grandma did , she has been waiting. She is a huge part of his support system! Can't wait to hear how things are going.

did anyone else get a phone call from their recruit this past Sunday? I spoke with my son on Sunday was at work but had to walk away to take his call. He sound great aside from a slight cough. He informed me that this week is rumored to be the hardest week of boot camp. Next week they will go into the gas chamber which he was a little nervous about. I was able to call his younger brother at work so they could speak and he said he will call again in two weeks. I am looking forward to P.I.R. so I can see him. He also said that more than likely he will ship out to Pensacola early the following morning. My son doesn't write much so I look forward to his phone calls. Does anyone know if they will be allowed to leave the base after P.I.R. we would like to take him out to eat even though he says that the food in the galley is good. He was also chosen to be PO of the head crew which he is pretty proud of as well.
