down to counting days until my son leaves for BC vs. the months & weeks!  Keeping very busy preparing his favorite foods & desserts, planning the party before he ships out.   Just waiting for it to all hit!  Happy, excited, proud!!   My son will be in the Nuke program.  Any other moms with kids leaving that week?

My son leaves the 4th too- how quickly time has passed! I can only hope it goes this fast once he leaves for Great Lakes!

yes i hope it goes fast as well.  Looking forward to PIR.  I get chocked up each week just seeing the pictures posted on FB of the graduations!

We had our sons party yesterday as well.  It was a wonderful distraction and now to keep it together!  Next weekend our plan is to make Thanksgiving dinner & we'll have a fun Halloween as well, hope that keeps my mind busy!

My son leaves on the 4th as well, Actually, he's leaving home on the 3rd to go to MEPS in Des Moines where he'll travel from to Great Lakes on the 4th.We had a party for him a couple of weeks ago, combining it with my mother's birthday party so family from out of town would only need to make one trip. Brian keeps on telling me that his enlistment "is not a big deal", but he has no idea!

we are in Southern California & thankfully MEPS is not far. He'll get dropped off at the recruiters on the 3rd, we'll go to the hotel & have dinner with him after he's all checked in then on the morning of the 4th go to MEPS to watch him swear in & leave, it's going to be an emotional day but I couldn't be prouder.

Those arriving next week will most likely have PIR on Thursday, 12/31/2015 since 01/01/2016 is a federal holiday. The good news is that those with Sailors staying in GL will have extra time with their Sailors. Those who will fly out will most likely fly out on Friday.

Thanks for the information lemonelephant.  With it being a holiday week and the possibilities for weather issues, I will schedule my flight and can make changes when the final information is sent out.  This morning was tough morning, it's hitting me at odd times.  Having a plan forward helps!

:o)

My son reports 11/4 too. Said goodbye to him today tho. :(

Hang in there Joeysmom! PIR will be here before we know it :)

I'm already counting days! I jokingly told my son I was going to drive by there on his birthday with my car decorated. He turns 21 right in between thanksgiving and Christmas. Hard holidays this year!

that's funny!  That is hard adding a special birthday like his 21st to already missing them at Thanksgiving & Christmas!
