Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

This is beautiful and such a comfort. Thank you both for sharing. My son had already moved out after he graduated in 2014 so I thought this would be easier, but I was wrong! I think the lack of texts and calls makes it hard, we haven't gotten our letter yet and I found myself stalking the mail lady yesterday to try to get it but it wasn't there. :( Praying it will be today.
I am praying everyday for our SR's and all of the family they left behind. God Bless you all! -

I cried when I got the letter and saw his chicken scratch handwriting!
I have the envelope hanging up in the kitchen.
I took one of his pillows from his bed the first night but the scent is kinda faint now.

I hugged my son's jacket from his box when it came and I sobbed. Every night since, I take it out and hug it before I go to sleep. I neatly fold it back up. I imagine him hugging me and it helps a little. Whenever I was sad, he would give me the biggest bear hug (both arms around me and holding tightly--like a bear). He gave me one of those bear hugs right before he got on the bus to go to the airport. I miss him so much!

I did too. His dad got it first and I could not believe he had not opened it yet. I cried terribly. I miss him so much.

My son left the same day, 10/06. He's on Ship#14 USS Arizona/Div#028.
Is there anyone else out there on #14?
I would love to get to know some of you so we can meet at PIR!

It is the division number that is the most important when looking for others with loved ones training with your recruit. Divisions 27 and 28 are brother divisions, so look for others with loved ones in either division.

tammy8 -- These postings are sometimes hard to tell who is talking with whom---DIV 027 or 028 ? Good to know someone else on Ship 14 . Since both are brother divisions, it's likely our sons may know each other. My son is in Ship 14 DIV 027.
