Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

You may need to type in your address (if the geolocation isn't working in your browser) and expand the search radius beyond the default 5 miles. There should definitely be a site near you.

I'm in the same position! I have an appointment Monday to get my ID at the closest base. Go online to the rapids site to do that. Get it ASAP. That's what my brother told me (he's been in the navy 11 years). As far as how DEERS works please let me know what you find out!

If you have the signed form to get your ID card, you are enrolled in DEERS. Only the service member may do that, and it is one of the first things taken care of during in processing at boot camp.

NavyWifey12: i called the number on the form and said if i talked to Navy recruiter from the recruting office. I did but he hasn't answered , i even left a message. So if i do have to go to a base it would be the one in San Antonio which is 7 hours away from where i live. I will let you know as soon as i find something out. :)

Also call first. Some of the places require an appointment. I took my DIL to an Air Force reserve base & it was really easy. Be sure you have your drivers license and his social security number with you Actually, you should memorize his SS# - you'll be using it a lot. :)

Hi! Yes, you do get an ID card and are eligible for healthcare. All documents will be sent to you while he is there. It can take about 3 weeks to get the forms. To make the process go quicker make sure his recruiter makes a copy of you ID, birth certificate and social security and marriage license before he leaves. Otherwise it will delay the process and he will have to call and you'll have to send them

Ok everyone I finally got mi ID ! I asked about DEERS and they said I was already enrolled . So what now ? When do I get the insurance cards for dental and medical?

Your ID card is your medical card for Tricare. Dental is a separate plan and must be purchased through Tricare.

I read someone that you have to apply for DEERS by the 20th of the month to be eligible by the 1st of the following month? Is this true? My husband leaves on Nov. 24 and my child is due on Dec.22nd. Does anyone know how that would work with getting insured?
