down to counting days until my son leaves for BC vs. the months & weeks!  Keeping very busy preparing his favorite foods & desserts, planning the party before he ships out.   Just waiting for it to all hit!  Happy, excited, proud!!   My son will be in the Nuke program.  Any other moms with kids leaving that week?

So nice to find y'all on this site. My boy left thurs as well. I did the same thing that beachmom did with dinner and meeting at MEPS. It was awesome. My parents got to go with me and my dad was sworn into the Navy in the same building actually the same room as my son 50 years ago. Was a very emotional day. I just miss him so much already. He's my only kiddo. I'm just having a hard time not knowing what he's doing. I'm so used to the "mom I'll be home at whenever, I'm at so and so's house" phone calls and texts. And the thought of going to the Arctic (we are from Texas) in Dec/Jan scares me. Gonna be hard to fly in if there is any type of weather. Sorry I rambled. :(

Hi Amyd I feel you!  Today is so far the worst for me.  It's so quiet in the house with out my sons laughter echoing through.  Last year at this time he was away at college but I could call or text if I wanted, I knew he'd be home for the holidays, now I to wonder what they are doing and hoping it's all good, which I'm sure it is.  That is so cool that your son was sworn in where your dad was.  I'm in Southern California so Chicago weather isn't my cup of tea but we lived in NW Pennsylvania for 6 years, I know what to expect and have been to the windy city a few times for work.  Hope mother nature will be kind to us!  Hang in there PIR will be here soon :)

Thanks for the stories. It makes it a little easier to hear from y'all knowing that I'm not alone in all these emotional thoughts. Lol. I just wish we knew when PIR will be for sure. I would like to get a room and a flight. And being a teacher I am totally rooting for Dec 31. Then I wouldn't have to take time off. Want to save those days to go see him during A-school.

Amyd, I  left info for you on your My Page.

Thanks a lot !

My son also left on the 4th.
I seen where someone had said they thought our kids PIR would be on the 31st. My sons recruiter told him he thought it would be the 8th due to the holidays. We shall all see. I hate the wait and rush to get airline tickets. I can't wait to see my son, but cost wise the 8th would be so much better.

Leanna, PIR is most likely the 31st, but yes, the 8th is possible for those arriving at the end of the week as yours did. It all depends how the divisions filled. You have to wait on The Form Letter to know the PIR date for sure. Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what is happening and what to expect.

My husband also left for BC on the 4th. I read that some people already got their boxes. Anyone from California get a box yet? Also, did P days start last week or did they start yesterday?
Omg if that is true I would be ecstatic if my box was on my doorstep when I got home from school today. I'm missing my kid like crazy today!!!

Boms_wife I'm California & haven't received the box yet.  If it comes USPS we get delivery a little later in the day.  I can't wait for the letter.  I'll feel better when I have a date to count down to!  I don't understand the P days myself even after reading about them, I hope to figure it out if my son dates a letter with where he is!  Good luck to your husband :)

Thank you. I hope that we Californians get our boxes soon!
