Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

My son is leaving November 18th...
...and I know that there are a few moms who have kids going in within days of that. Makes me wonder if they will all have the same PIR?? If so, we should definitely get to know one another!!

Yes, wouldn t that be great if we all got to know each other through this whole process? Isnt the internet awesome...we have access to so much more information than any other time. It feels good to know that other Moms are out there preparing their hearts and minds for the day they have to leave.

Agreed! I am driving Kyle to St. Louis on Nov. 17th so I can see him off on the 18th. And five days after that, I am moving to Michigan! It's going to be a crazy month!!

Wow that is crazy!!! You are driving him to St. Louis? I didn't know there is a BC in St. Louis....interesting...I thought most of the guys go to Great Lakes.

He does have to go to Great Lakes for BC...but he has to go to MEPS in St. Louis first. I'm taking him there so I can see him off

Hi Karen! My son is starting bc on the 17th and will be coming all the way from sunny California. I too hope to forge some new friendships through this journey we're about to go on and can't wait to see what our kids accomplish!!!

My son is leaving on the 17th as well. We like in Chicago, so we are lucky enough to be closeby...but will be just as in the dark as everyone else. I am looking forward to all getting closer to all the BC Moms with Recruits leaving the 17th. If anyone needs any help logistically or whatever, I can help, as like I said, we live here.

Believe it or not, after living here all of my life...the first 40 degree day we are running around in shorts!! hahahahaha
The weather is brutal for sure. My sister in law is from Canada and even she says she has never felt cold like Chicago...we laff and ask her what's wrong with feeling like the wind is chewing your face off?????
You will have a great time, just try not to cram in too many things. Sears Tower is expensive and lines are always long...i think you guys would get a big kick out of the Bean and some good eats in Chi-Town!!!

Mine was scheduled to leave the 16th but it was moved to the 17th as of yesterday. He's nervous but excited - it's a big change but one he's been working towards for 2 years (he had to lose 100lbs before he could enter DEP)
I'm very proud of him but I'll miss him so much - he's my first to leave...

My son had to lose 70 lbs. he had such discipline. I am so proud of him as well.
Where is your son coming from and what is his first name, I was telling my son about yours and his weight loss...he was like do you think he will be in my group, I said, yeah probably...so if you want to share his name they can maybe seek each other out. My sons name is Matthew.
He is also my first (of three) to leave. Sometimes I am just going about my business and I go "oh my Lord, he is going to be gone a week from today"...I don't know how I am gonna hold it together. I am asking God to help me lean on Him until I get to the car. My husband and I are going to go see him get sworn in and then off he goes. I will probably go fetal once I get home for a good portion of the day.
My other kids have each taken a day of from school this week to spend the day doing something with their older brother.

Wow! What amazing discipline...I think my son might have trimmed off around 20 pounds of bulk he had put on for his Senior year playing football. He realized very quickly that the Navy was more interested in his physical attributes resembling a triathlete verses a body builder. He's been out of town for the last two days for his final PST's. Something happened with the first one and it didn't count. Looking forward to having him home the next two days before Monday gets here. Hug your babies!!!!!!!!!!!!!
