For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

jenb - hope your SR has safe travels getting thru the snow.
My SR left yesterday with clear skies and flew into rain in GL. It was his first flight so glad that all went well for him. It was about 2 hours from the time he got off the plane until I got the "call". Now I will be waiting for the box and the letter to come.

I agree Lisa...even with my other kids, two dogs, guinea piga and five chickens a big void will be there. I just keep thinkh that even tho he will not be here for the holidays, this is a busy time of the year, so i am hoping it goes by fast!!!

I know!!! I asked if we could get our kids for the holiday...as i live in Chicago...but no deal. They will have a great meal and hopefully letters to read from home! It sure wont be the same with out him home!

We had a nice time with our son this past weekend. He had lots of phone calls and visits from family and friends wishing him well. We fixed him his favorite foods Saturday night and geared everything around his favorite things trying to make his last days at home as memorable as possible. We dropped him off with his Recruiter on Sunday afternoon and said our tearful goodbyes. Later that evening while driving to the hotel to visit him he called letting us know his leave date changed from 11/16 to 11/18. I thought he was kidding at first, but by Sunday night we were all at home staring at each other once again. Talk about emotional rollercoaster!
I dropped him off at the Recruiters again today. My fingers are crossed there won't be any additional delays and he will leave tomorrow as scheduled. He's been signed up for 8 months now and I know he is ready for this journey to begin.

Same here, AquariusMom...we had a nice weekend. We drooped him off at the Recruiter at 12:45 this afternoon. Now we are getting ready to go have dinner with him. Tomorrow we will go see him get sworn in and then he is off to the races!!! Then i will go home, crawl in bed and go fetal for a few hours!!!

It's hard being a mom sometimes. I miss my son. The idea of not being able to talk to him for quite some time is so hard.
