My son was supposed to ship out on the 16th but it was changed to the 18th. He left for the hotel yesterday, the 17th.  Should be getting the 10 second, "I've Arrived" call any second.  I was strong until it was time to say goodbye then he was strong for me. He will not be coming for Christmas which will be tough for us. This will be a long 8 weeks for me. Is bootcamp as tough as people say? I think he can handle the physical aspect but the mental breaking down will be tough. He has already met some great recruits. He shared a room in the hotel with a future sailor who will be in the same field as him which was a nice thing. Good Luck and God Bless every one of our children and spouses.

be strong mama - bootcamp IS tough but he'll come out the other end strong and confident. Be proud of him for accepting this challenge

Thank you! Very very proud of him.  Long road to get where we are today. Patiently waiting for the call.

I am sitting here in Chicago, about 20 minutes from O'Hare Airport. Local recruits have to go to the airport to wait for the rest of the shippers. I just want to go over there and see him...but i cant.

At MEPS the recruiter said to them that a lot of men and women wished that they could be there too, but because of these recruits ASVAB scores, backgrounds and moral
Character, our boys/girls made it! That made me very proud...as all kids have temptations that can take them down a bad path...so cheers and congratulations to all of our kids!!

My son is signed up for Air Traffic Controller. He is going to "A" school In Pensacola. Luckily all my family is down there and can see him even though I'm in Tennessee.

Logistics Specialist for mine - A school is in Meridian MS...at least it's a closer drive than Chicago (about 5 hours vs 2 days one way)

KNR FEMALE NC KIMBERLY(MOM)

My daughter shipped that day also.  She is Air Traffic Controller

Hmmm...I don’t think they made him return
it.  Maybe he just felt that he didn’t need
it right now.  I wanted my son to take a
pocket Bible, too, but he told me that if he feels he needs some spiritual
refreshment then he will go to Chapel

He may have forgotten it or he may have been in too much of a hurry to put it in his "Valuables" sock.

My daughter left 11/16/15 as well. STG
My son left Nov. 16 too. Ship 2 div. 910. He is a nuke. I miss him very much. So glad to find everyone here.
