My daughter leaves for Great Lakes on 11/17. The anticipation is killing her, she was ready to go a month ago, me...not so much.
So proud of her but sad for the empty nest.

I am feeling bi-polar too!! My son leaves Wednesday and I'll be eager to focus on the count down to graduation. These comments have been so helpful during this period of letting go!

Ugh...so many emotions! I think you are feeling the same thing we all are feeling. I was blubbering like a boob while he was helping me clean cabinets yesterday. I just love that kid! He is a great son!!! Sometimes i find myself grtting pissed at my friends that have no isea how we Moms of servicemen feel or understand the sacrifices being made. But God has a plan; His plan is better than mine...so I will watch with tear filled eyes as he soars!

Hugs to you!

So many tears this weekend. :(

We did our family Thanksgiving on Saturday and I had to say my goodbyes to her yesterday since I live 3 hours from where she is living.  We both felt it would be better to leave it there rather than staying through until today as she will be with her recruiter most of the day.  Ugh!

I have to remind myself it's no different than if she were going off to college, just a lot more structured and a lot less ability to communicate!

I'm officially on the Navy roller coaster....lets get this ride started.

My son just left for GL yesterday morning, Nov 16th.  We got our arrival call from him at 1:54 am this morning.  He has been waiting about 6 months in the DEP.  He was very calm as I was crying.  I am anxious to get his box and out first letter.

My son left for Great Lakes yesterday I'm so sad and happy for him at the same time. I'm so worried and wish I could talk to him :-( I can't stop crying I did get his first phone call at 9:30 pm I wish there was a way to check on him. In sure he's fine does anyone else feel like this
She finally arrived in Chicago several hours late.
Her original flight was cancelled due to mechanical issues. Reason why I hate flying!! It's going to be a long rough night and day for her. :(
Azmom my son left on the 16 th I got his letter have you gotten your daughters yet PIR 1/8
I haven't gotten the letter yet but did receive the box. I'm thinking PIR will be with the 8th or 15th. She didn't get to GL until the wee hours of weds morning.
Our son arrived in Chicago and was able to text us for a few minutes after he landed. He reminded me to BE STRONG lol, I laughed and told him it was about to get real!!! We received the scripted phone call a couple hours later and he sounded ready for lack of a better word. Today is easier! I'm hoping it is for some of you as well. I know yesterday was rough!!!!!!! Hugging him goodbye at MEPS, driving home...it literally knocked the breath out of me. The crying was minimal today and I'm going to try and stay busy as much as possible. Much love to all the other moms, dads and family members!!

Good Morning SEB...so first day back to work.  I am feeling okay.  Got the call late last night...it was scripted indeed.  I kept saying, okay, I love you, okay I love you..hahaha...what a dork...whatever...so that was that!

Now I just have to keep myself together and busy for the next 8 weeks. It will be wonderful to hug him and love on him again. God cover our sons/daughters will Your strength and peace, be near to them as they spread their wings to soar!

My son left on 11/17, arriving there at GL on 11/18, late that night, calling about 2230 to, "let us know he was safe and would contact us in three weeks."
His recruiter told me his tentative date in the computer said Jan 8th as a date for PIR. We got the box of clothes and his phone by FedEx yesterday.
I am super stressed about the PIR date because I had to put my Annual Leave request at work in on Nov 20th for the next year to get approval. Of course they should realize I will call in sick if I have to in order to go to his graduation, but.....
That should be a good date, right?
