Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 047 and 048

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important

Every single concern is genuine

Every single member is important to us

We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

What do you mean by hell week?

Letter arrived today and the filled out questionnaire I'd sent.  I think he enjoyed that one.  It was fun to make and I'll do another this weekend.  Anyone have any thoughts of decorating the hotel room door for PIR?  One mom made a comment about it but that's all I've heard.  Doesn't seem like it's a "thing" any thoughts?

Beachmom:  Many like to decorate the hotel room and/or hotel room door in honor of their new sailor since there are no posters, etc allowed at PIR.  We just suggest that if you decorate the door, you may want to leave off your sailor's last name for security reasons.  Inside the hotel room would be fine.

Thanks diannep!  My brother designed a great banner for the going away party so I'll enlist his help for another one for this :)  Something to keep me busy.

My son is on ship 14 div 047. Did anyone receive phone calls this past weekend from this div. We had received one last weekend and the one before, but nothing this past Sunday.

I think we were very lucky to get a call 2 weeks in a row, I tried not to get my hopes up for another but unfortunately found myself waiting for the phone to ring! Hopefully they get to call Christmas when they are adopted out, fingers crossed, then the final call after battle stations will be the best call.

I have no idea what to expect through this experience. I just happened across this website and have been reading through the comments and it has calmed some of my nerves. My SR has been so homesick in his letters and his 2 calls that it has made me a nervous wreck. Thanks for replying and I am so grateful for the calls he has gotten. I didn't know if we should expect one each week once they started earning them or if they are still a rare blessed thing. I sat by the phone all day Saturday and Sunday and was also so disappointed. It amazes me how much I just need to hear his voice. I am counting down the days to Dec. 31. What is they adopt program that you are talking about?

mason glad you came across this website, it's a wealth of information (sometimes too much!) to know that others are feeling exactly the same as you are and to find out what's going on with our SR.  The most important thing I've learned is..No News Is Good News!  The adopt a sailor program has been discussed in our PIR group main page and I'm new at this but if you live within 50 miles of RTC and your recruit has sent the form our PIR group along with the following weeks are the senior recruits for Christmas and eligible to be adopted out. Those that don't have family in that range will get adopted out by local organizations and will get to spend Christmas off base with some extra's depending on which group they go with, but what I read for the ones that went at Thanksgiving they have a nice meal, some video games, movies and access to phones.  It's just a nice day away from the base for them.  Here is the link that has all the details Thanksgiving Adopt-A-Sailor program.

From what the more veteran moms have said our SR will be doing much better now as far as the homesickness.  The first few weeks are the worst.  They are working better as a division and can see the end so hang in there, you're not alone and the 31st will be here before you know it.  Take time to check out all this webpage has to offer.  There is a lot but you're here so that's great!

How do you get to the PIR main page? I have found one page that has the title of PIR 12/31/2015 TG 08, but I don't seem to be able to see any info on it. I think I am missing something. I am glad I have found this site also. It helps to read the other comments and to know that other moms and SRs are feeling the same way I am. Mine has been so homesick that I have worried myself sick about him. He had never been away from home before and he was so sure this is what he wanted. With each letter, he has sounded worse and I keep hoping and praying that each week will get better for him. He seems to love the actual Navy part, but the being away from us, especially on the holidays, has been a struggle for him. I am sure it has been for all the young people there. How do I go about doing the adopt a sailor for my son for Christmas, or is it something he has to initiate?

PIR 12/31/2015 TG 08- 10 Divisions (045-052, and 907-908) Each recr... Click on this link and see if that works and then you can join the PIR group.  You'll be able to read and post comments where the veteran parents can help out with answers.

I'm so excited! A friend who lives near Great Lakes is letting us stay at her house for both Christmas and PIR! It's going to be so nice for my son to be able to relax in a home rather than a hotel room.

So Awesome!!  Will you be able to stay the whole week or travel back and forth?
