Has anyone heard from their loved one that shipped on 12/7? He called us that night to let us know he made it, but we still haven't received the box or the letter. Will his PIR most likely be 2/5/16?

Hi, Amanda ... It takes some time for the delivery. I had two sons go through the process. You have to wait for the letter, because, depending on the upfront admin days is when the count begins. Then, so long as your recruit has no delaying circumstances, the PIR date will be firm.

Being the mom (or spouse) of a recruit is a wild ride. Have fun with it. Search out the traditions and the burning of blue candles!    Blessings, z

Oh, and as soon as you know the PIR date, go join the N4M PIR group. Often the groups create a parallel group on Facebook. I still communicate with members of the FB group ... :-)

Thank you so much for all of the information! I'm going to search out traditions and burn blue candles. I have 2 young daughters and this has been very hard on them as well. Maybe that will help them deal with missing their brother.

Here's something you and your daughters can do. Go buy an inexpensive photo album that fits 4x6" photos and 4x6 index cards. Every day, write down something about the day. You can print photos and cut them to fit. Include silly arguments, mundane pics of holiday shopping, food you eat, pets and pranks. Add outdoor changes (snow or a crazy rain storm) and screen shots of really funny Facebook stuff. When you go to PIR, bring this.

When my eldest son attended BC, we did this for our granddaughter. I would capture when she was happy, angry, missing Daddy, pouty ... even if I traveled for work, I would call each day to get a story for her book. He loved it! It was like he didn't miss those special fleeting moments.

That's a great idea! They will be so excited to do this. We'll start working on it tonight. Thank you!
My son left on 12/8, his PIR is on 1/29.

Got a letter on Dec 24th and a call on Dec 25th. Made my Christmas! PIR is 1/29/16

Hi our daughter left on 12/7 we received her box but no letter yet...

Notice when this Discussion was started.

Also, check your My Page.

The Form Letter arrives an average of ten days after the recruit's arrival at the RTC. Some will have it 7 days after arrival (a few earlier than that, but not many) and most will have it by 14 days after arrival. It will tell you your recruit's address and PIR date and other important information. Keep it in a safe place.

Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what is happening and what to expect.

Hi all!

My son shipped out 12/6/16

I received his box, with only some paperwork (beneficiary form) and his phone! I only assume he donated the rest of his things.

No letter yet!

Outside of that, no news is good news as i'm learning...

:)

proudnavymom44, check your My Page.

My son shipped 12/6, we received his form letter yesterday with his PIR date of 2/3/17. I have his ship and DIV number now so I will be In contact. I Finally got to mail my letters today. I had 4, I can't wait to hear from him!
