Hello,

Does anyone commute or have a sailor that commutes to San Diego?  If so what are some of the areas you are coming from? We are thinking of finding a place in Temecula but I dont know if that will be too far for him.

Thank you!

Temecula is a lovely area, but that commute ... and hour without traffic in the early morning, two hours with traffic in the afternoon.  Killer.

We rented a condo in Birdland, above Mission Valley, between Serra Mesa and Linda Vista.   My husband commuted to North Island, took about 20 minutes or less.   He rode his Harley, but he was an expert rider so handled the traffic okay.  My friend was at 32nd St. and commuted from La Jolla.  Nice apartment near the university, they liked the younger community.  Half hour commute on a good day. Other friend was in El Cajon, owned a house.  Hot out there, I disliked it compared to where we were.  About 45 min to an hour, with some bad days if traffic was heavy.

Yes the commute will be very difficult for both of us.  I work in Orange and he will be at 32nd St. Trying to find something in the middle to make it even for us both.  He does ride a Harley as well so maybe that will be the deciding factor since he can ride to work.  I have put in about 20 applications for a job closer to San Diego.  I have been at my job for 10 years so just quitting and leaving will be very hard.

That does make Temecula a far more reasonable choice.

I live in Temecula and the commute isn't terrible but could be around an hour and a half during rush hour. Maybe you can try looking in San Marcos, Carlsbad, or even Vista. Linda Vista is also a very good option.

Thanks Sammy. Because I work in Orange it would be hard to go any closer to San Diego. And Temecula has so much more to offer for the price as far as I can see. Hopefully we both can get used to the commute. Or I am really hoping that I can get a closer job.

Mm, I do see that Temecula is a good match. It's a great place for a little family. Actually been raised here basically my whole life. Good schools, friendly little community.

Sammy is it you or your spouse that does the commute to the base?

Hello,

I live about 20 minutes from Temecula right now, and from there it's still about an hour and 30 minutes to San Diego.

What city do you live in?

I live 20 minutes north of Temecula in Moreno Valley.

Oh yes I know where that is. My uncle lives there. I almost looked in that area but I am already pushing it with Temecula.  Do you know if there is a train station in the area?

The Amtrak starts in down town Riverside. I know it goes to LA, not to sure if it goes South from there.
