Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

How's and What of CTN A School Florida
Hello there, my SR will PIR 1/23 and then go on to A school in Florida, my question is how does this work, what do they do and where do they go while waiting to class up? I have heard little about the process and am just curious if he will have to find housing while waiting or what?

my son just left for BC and is going into CTN he's very excited for it, and was told he would most likely be doing his A school in FL, I am actually curious about what happens when he first gets there and will he have leave to come home during this time?

My sailor was there in 2012. They do get details to do while waiting to class up and they can also do volunteer work which will look good on their record in the long run. Sometime waiting to start classes may just be a few weeks or could be 2 months, it varies. Once they start classes, they will be extremely busy with long days during the week. If you live close enough you can coordinate with you sailor and take weekends to go visit him. We were very fortunate that we live in Florida (6hrs away and I would make my husband get up early and head out so we would be there for breakfast)and he was there for the long holiday weekends. You can take advantage of that, there is a holiday Inn right up the road from Corry and he was able to stay with us for the whole weekend each time, with permission of course. It may sound silly but he actually made up flash cards that we would randomly ask him questions while there so that he could spend time with us but still stay focused on his schooling. After graduation he did get a week to come home.

Hello! My son got to Pensacola a few weeks ago. He knows he will have a 4 day Liberty for Memorial weekend, but not sure what exact days off. Can someone please tell me which days he will start and end? Planning something and tried to look it up but, couldn't find it and he says he doesn't know yet, but I would like to know ASAP, thank you for any help
