My son is going to bootcamp on March 22nd. I'll be at his graduation in Great Lakes at the end of May. I'm so confused about what I can give him on graduation day and what he is allowed to bring with him to Pensacola. I'm hoping someone can tell me. I'd like to give him an iPad to bring to school. Can I give it to him on graduation day?

You may give it to him on graduation day but he won't be able to keep it until he is at the airport.
Mine wanted his phone and his laptop. That wasn't too much for him to carry with all their gear. An iPad is certainly appropriate.
Mine went to Goose Creak where he was not able to take an electronic device into the classroom but he could use it in his own room. I don't know the rules in Pensacola.
This is so good to know Cybermama. So...does it mean I have to be at the airport to give it to him? He wants his cell phone as well. I'm assuming he is going to send his phone to me in the box that should arrive. I don't know the exact date of his graduation date yet so it's difficult to make flight/hotel reservations. He is 22. I am in California and he is in Montana right now and leaving out of Butte, Montana to Great Lakes. I am so thankful for this website for support. So proud and nervous at the same time!
Yes, he will send his cell phone back in "the box." You will be able to give him his cell phone and some other things at the airport. He cannot have those things at the RTC, so yes, you must meet him at the airport for him to take them to Pensacola where he will have his training.

We sent to GC boxers we thought he might like. They were very well received! :-) Then he asked for components from his home computer because he was building a new one at GC. He's a nerd.
my sailor is at Corry. When he graduated from BC we spent the day with him. He was on his phone and computer a lot. When we took him back to base he could not take it with him. We meet him at the airport the next morning and gave him his electronics, a pair of boxers and 1 change of civilian clothes. They truly have no room. We were able to go back with him and spent about 3 hours at the airport.
also meant to say....at Corry they can have electronics in their room but not in class. Not even a phone. When we went to visit our sailor wasn't allowed to talk on a phone while walking on the grounds.
my son left today as well! Looks like we'll be in the same PIR group!
Ernestine, it is great that you got a call.
