Renata - will your son stay in GC or go to NY for proto?
There is a discussion for housing options in SC. I'll bump it for you. Not a lot of info, but maybe someone can add to it for you.
Hello Renata,
My son got together with a pal and rented an apartment--
They looked on Apartments.com, at first and then went and saw places, he said it was easy! He and his Pal got a place at Audubon Park. He did also buy a car at that point in time. But there are many places with apartments always opening up as Navy guys graduate and get their orders.
That is where my son is in the process: just finishing.
Wherever he goes, he can start on Apartments.com or just search apartment complexes in the areas he wants to live in on line!
Best to pair up to share expenses if he can!
Warmly,
KrisM
Mine lives in Ladson I signed over to him my old 2002 Toyota Camry which runs like a top. He said that he wants to sell it when he leaves Prototype in July--and I agree. I'm not trying to get you or anyone to buy his car but I would presume that there are others who leave prototype and want to get rid of older (but still reliable) vehicles. I would encourage your son to look around now for something decent--something for which he can probably pay cash. Remember that after Prototype, they will be assigned away from GC or BS and that new car could just be sittling on a parking lot somewhere while your sailor still makes payments. Mine got lucky with my old car because I was buying a new one. I put some money into new brakes, tires, and a few other things. He's been pleased.
