The website I found says:

Pensacola -- 44 calendar days

Pensacola -- 8 calendar days (only selected recruits will attend this course)

for AME.  I don't know how up-to-date this is.  Yes, some rates have groups.  Some schools have groups. Once he gets to his duty station you may be able to find a group for his ship.

Calls for Recruits.org would like you to know about a program for the Men and Women of our Armed Forces.  I am giving away free phone cards for Recruits to use while they are in basic training to keep in touch with Family Members and Loved Ones.  I feel that the Family, Loved Ones, nor the Men and Women of our Armed Forces should have to pay for phone calls from Boot Camp.  Please click the link above and get your new Service Member the FREE phone cards they need.

There are between 60 and 100 recruits per division and between 5 and 12 divisions per grad date, all depending on the needs of the Navy. The only US Navy Boot Camp is at Great Lakes, all recruits report there. All recruits in a division graduate on the same day as long as they pass battlestations, PT, and have no medical issues. This website will be very helpful:

All groups can be found under the groups tab, but if you are unable to locate the Indiana group there, here is the link:

Click on the one called Groups.  Check out the Boot Camp group.  Once you have done that, start looking for his PIR date group.  These will both be very helpful.  What will he be doing in the Navy after boot.  You may be able to find a group for his type work and begin to learn more about that also.

They earn the priviledge as a group to call. You will want to be strong and positive when he calls.  If you don't hear from him, know that he is very busy and doing just fine.  I remember when my son was in boot camp, I didn't know anyone else who had a child in boot camp and I didn't have this website as it hadn't been started yet, it came out just after his bc PIR.

You will definately want to check out the 'Tabs' just under the banner at the top of this page.
