Hi- I'm thinking you are the Mom that has a Sailor going to Pensacola, our Son is also. He has not given us any info as to when they fly out but todays letter asked us to accompany him to the Airport! We are staying Fri and planned to head out early Sat as we have a two day drive back to VT. If you have any other info, we'd love to hear that.
My son's last name is Padgett and we are from Idaho!! Thanks for adding me!
Do you have the info on ratings for both SR's?
Have you checked into having the SR who graduates second being able to attend his brother's PIR? It has been permitted at times. He would have to get special permission and would sit in the balcony and you might not be able to do more than wave at him.
Since you have an SR with a contract for Hospital Corpsman (HM), sometime between now and the end of BC, join HM (Hospital Corpsman) A School in San Antonio and check out Basic Medical Technician Corpsman Program Facebook Page. You may also want to check out Corpsman Moms and Corpsmen Moms and Dads. The Rating Information Card for HM can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/hm.pdf; it indicates 19 weeks, but "A" School is 14 weeks after classing up. Your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend.
If your Sailor is picked for the Field Medical Training Battalion (FMTB) then check out Camp Lejeune Moms and FMF Corpsman moms. If he becomes eligible for SARC, check out SARC, Special Amphibious Recon Corpsman.
What is your future Sailor's rating (job/specialty) going to be? There are groups for most ratings and/or "A" Schools and knowing that will help you to better plan for PIR weekend. Take care and blessings to you and yours.
My boy started excercising then stopped, then started then stopped then started then stopped.... LOL I think he will be regretting it.... he will be hearing me in his head I am sure!! LOL but they can only look forward now! I am hoping for a call this weekend!! Fingers crossed!!! I am in Tacoma, WA. My daughter is in Houston. Julie

I see you have joined Logistic Specialists; you will also want to join Sailors attending A School in Meridian, Mississippi, and Meridian Mississippi A School family&friends. You will also want to check out NAS Meridian Facebook Page and NTTC Meridian Facebook Page. The Rating Information Card for LS can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/ls.pdf. Your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) to help you know how to plan your weekend.
