OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

A little about me:
I started out as an Air Force Brat and had two of my daughters join. When it came time, my baby boy was NOT going to follow the pack. LOL I really don't know what else to say...I am just a "mom", used to the kids growing up and moving on with their lives. But suddenly, I feel a need for support while he is deployed. I stumbled across this site and realized I no longer had to walk alone.
I am here to support my
Son/Daughter
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I...
Was proud and encouraged it
The Navy offers opportunities that...
I know him so well, yet I look at the man he has become, and I shake my head with wonder.
Our Navy experience so far...
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

If you have a more specific group name maybe you can input that into the search box. Or as a last alternative, post a blog and ask if there are other in the same group. If there is not a group, YOU can create on yourself, then post the blog.

I am honored that you have sent me a friend request. At the moment, I am having some minor difficulty with private messaging. My N4M "addressbook" seems goofy. When I select a friend to send a message, the person I checked is not always the person who receives the message. For now I am not adding an friends until I can figure out what is wrong with it. However, you can reply to this comment (click on Comment Back) and it will show up on MY PAGE, even though we are not friends yet. LOL. I am always in the New Moms Stop Here group. So drop in there too. OK?

Deployment is never easy. I don't think I'll ever get the hang of it.

My nephew has served two tours overseas...Iraq and Afghanistan...if you want to talk details you can become my friend and we can share more private emails. IE...general location in Afghan...type of 'job' that he is currently working and compare notes with what my nephew experienced.
My son is a Nuke MM, in drydock, but a baby in the Navy compared to yours.
Glad you found the seabee page...I really think there may be another group with family deployed. It would be worth the look.
My best to you and to the remainder of your family as you go through this stressful time. Keep me posted as both of my other(ones I know personally) Afghan-serving service members (Marine and Ohio Army Nat'l Guard) have rotated back to the states.

Welcome aboard! This is a great site for support! I assume that he is in the fleet based on your comments above. You may find a group for the ship he is on...or for his rate...You will then be able to communicate with others that are going through the same feelings you are going through. Check out the 'Groups' tab at the top of the page under the banner, then type in his rate or ship.

Welcome to N4M. Your key to adjusting is finding a group where you can feel comfortable and get answers to your questions – Click on the underlined links:
1. New Moms Stop Here group. You should think of this group as your orientation station. We do have a number of experienced members who can answer questions and point you in the right direction.
2. Depper’s… in but not yet . is a group for those just waiting for bootcamp to start (Delayed Entry Program – a depper)
3. Boot Camp Moms group. Is he/she already in bootcamp? Or just about to go in? This is the group.
4. OCS Graduate Moms or the NROTC Moms. For those going to be an officer or going to NROTC?
Read this blog to get a jump start on how to use the N4M site.
Welcome to New Members
Of particular importance is the use of the “Search” function. You should do searches in blogs, forums, discussions for answers in previously posted threads BEFORE adding a NEW blog/discussion. Finally, it takes time to learn how to use this site. Be patient. Check your page & status box often.
Best of luck, BunkerBee and AbbyblueOK (from the New Moms Stop Here Group)
