For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

When will we start receiving letters?
My boyfriend left for bootcamp Thursday, March 29th, so its been about a week since he has been gone. Should I probably be expecting letters sometime next week or does it usually take longer than that?

Your recruit is able to write once he has holiday routine, which is no earlier than the second Sunday after arrival, so yes, next week is the earliest that you can expect a real letter. He should be able to write for the first time on Sunday and letters will go out in the mail on Monday.

Hi Katiegirl123, usually they send the form letter home that will have his address, once you get the address you can begin to write letters if you havent already and send them to him, also someone has to be trained in sorting mail.
At first recruits are only permitted to write during holiday routine on Sunday and later they may be able to write on one or two other days as well (often Tuesday and Thursday) and if they earn privledges they can write everday. but they pick up outgoing mail on sunday for Monday's mail.
I know it can be hard, with no communication, it is just as hard for them the same.

I'm pretty sure he will be sending the form letter to his parents, but his mom hasn't contacted me yet if she's gotten it. Should she have received the form letter already or does it take about 2 weeks?

It arrives an average of ten days after the recruit's arrival at the RTC, but can take longer at times.

When will the Form Letter come and what is in it?
The Form Letter will arrive in your regular mail a week or so after "The Box" arrives--10 days after arrival is the average, but it can come sooner or 2 to 3 weeks after arrival.
I'm sure if you ask her she would give it to you. but I'm guessing no not yet.

Well my son just finished his 3rd friday this past week and we got a call today! He had a chance to call me and his dad . said he had 20 mins. I missed the call only heard the message. He sounded ok . He did get a hold of his dad and they got to talk a little bit. That made me feel better. I was a bit upset. Then there was a message from my Post Office telling me that there was a letter from my son. Post master thought id like to know that so it didnt sit there for days. I was so touched by her call. So the letter makes me feel better. He passed his PT test. Which was great because i was worried about his ankle. Says he can only mail out on Sundays. But all in all so good to hear from him. Xxxo
