While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of December (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!
If you have December ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in December, ...then this is the place to be. :-)
Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)
Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones) Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.
***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.
Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.
The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.
After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc.Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Sets New Physical Fitness Standard to Start Boot Camp. "The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes seven seconds for female recruits."

Son got a call yesterday from local recruitor, looks like they are getting everything in order to purchase his airline ticket! Surprised me since he is not leaving till Dec 8th but I guess that really is not that far away.

@mamawalrus.....my son has the same itch to get going but I told him this is the last "order" I will give him and told him he has to wait until Dec 13th :) It will be tough when he leaves but I know it is something he really wants to do! The quiet house is not something I am looking forward to!

Yes the 8th and my son to is feeling left behind, Although he did a year of college, it kept him busy. Now he is home his few few close friends are gone.. One in college away and 2 are in the Marines so he has the itch to get his life started too! I am so excited but like you I sit back and go wait.....once he leaves it will not be the same for a long time. He will not be walking in after work or just hanging out.. Then it hits me ......... ;(

Your's leaves the 8th right? It could happen. The 15th of December can't come fast enough for my son. I am eager to see him go and sad at the same time. He is sooooo ready to be out of here now that all his friends have left for college or the military already.

That is awesome and what a fun way to send him off. I know he will greatly enjoy and remember that. He will need all the relaxing he can get before BC! lol Once we get PIR dates we will see if our sons end up in the same one!

My son flies December 15th. We are excited about the cruise. The only downfall is his older sisters are not able to join us so it is not quite the whole family, but all the younger kids will be there. The cruise goes through the Adriatic Sea, the Mediterranean, and the Aegean Sea. He is so excited. It will be nice to spend time in that last few weeks with him as a "captive audience". I know the minute we get off the ship the last two weeks will fly by so quickly!

Now that is an idea I like....a cruise! I should of thought of that! We are already having family coming in for Thanksgiving. Ummmmm I may have to sneak one in before he leaves. When is your son/daughter leaving?

Sounds like a great idea mamwalrus. We are going on a cruise as a family for the week of Thanksgiving. He said that would be his Christmas and that I can save any cards or gifts he receives and send them to him at A school. Of course the tree will be up before he leaves and I may give something before he goes. We will have to play it by ear.

joshandalex.......we discussed Christmas and decided we will set up tree before he leaves and he said any gifts from family should be in the form of Gift Certificates for him to use once he gets more settled. I thought that was a great idea.

BBwinthemoon-is this your son or daughter leaving the 8th? Not sure if they will be in the same class but maybe we can keep in touch to see and start preparing for the M&G?
BTW, I have a son who is leaving the 8th, no changing date on my end :)
