OK Dunesmom, you are officially in charge of tissues.  My Sailor should be calling again tomorrow as it is my husbands 60th BD.  The following week it is going to be his 20th BD.  Hopefully I will be home when he calls.  I am going out for a run in the a.m., but should be home for the rest of the day.  What do you think about the menu?  I was also thinking about having a salad & chicken noodle soup for those who may not like Mexican.  Everyone out there, is the menu of Mexican Chicken Soup, fajitas, salad & chicken noodle soup OK?  I also like the raffle idea.  I'm making a quilt to raffle off, to benefit our Quilters Group that makes quilts for the Grand Rapids Home for Vets.  Is everyone OK with that?

OH my goodness Uli!  Congrats on the newest addition.

Ohhhhh Colleen I keep missing mine on line,i know it's not the same as the phone call but i feel for ya hon.  We are going to be sobbing Mommas at the end of the month.  I'll bring kleenex for all of us!

Keeping my fingers crossed for you Mary.

So those of you that got to hear from your Sailors...How are they doing?

I did read on fb that it is Flightsuit Friday and it's a pretty big deal.

Congrats, Uli!  Huge, huh?  My "little" daughter was 8lbs, 4 oz. and my sailor was almost 9 1/2lbs.--long and skinny, though.  Sounds like mama was almost all baby.  Big, healthy babies are great!

Colleen, the missed phone call reminds me of boot camp days, when I carried my phone with me EVERYWHERE and still managed to miss calls.  At least you know he's alive and well enough to call!

I grew up on a horse farm and in 78 the snow was drifted over the 8' barn doors. The water pipes in the barn froze and we hitched the pony to a
toboggan to bring the water buckets up to the house to fill them. We didn't have power for a few days, so Mom cooked in the fireplace.
Yesterday the snow was up to my knees in the back yard. I had to shovel a spot for the dog to go potty because it was too deep for him. It was really pretty after the sun came out though.

Dunesmom.........I'm workin' on it! My husband has been up there since September 1st. We still have a house to sell down here. I am hoping that all can be settled by the end of March.

Yea the stories that i have heard from my folks about 78 was there was wayyyy more snow.  I do think i remember my parents snowed in the next town over for like a week.  When they got home, via snow mobil, the snow was almost up to my Grandmas roof.  The wind is a howling and i'm looking for a nice hot tub.

So Mary.. when you comin home?  My Sailor is soooo home sick with the pictures i've been sending him.  He Loves the snow.  He use to drive around in his 4X4 to see if he could help people out that were stuck in the ditches.  He is missed very much around the neighborhood for sure.

Yes Colleen the drives are plowed and with the help of my daughter, she and her dad got the roof done too.  Now what to do with the mega ice cycles.  I also can not wait to meet you too, but i guess we better share the cheesecake with the other girls too, even thought the rest of you gals probably don't like it as much as us, lol.... You all crack me up!

I mean we got a foot of snow during THIS storm. We had lots more in '78.
Comment by Lorraine on February 3, 2011 at 12:03pm
I remember the snow of '78. Stuck at home with our car drifted over we decided to wean our 15 month old daughter from the bottle. Figured if we couldn't go anywhere for 3 days that we could be consistent and put up with the temporary crying. We accomplished our mission and we enjoyed the snow, too. We got about a foot - I straddle Calhoun and Branch Counties in lower Michigan.
