Brrrr, cold enough for you?  We went to the Plymouth Ice Festival today.  Great sculptures, and, well, great weather--for an ice festival.  I was amazed, though, at how many people I saw with no hats; I think they're crazy.

Meanwhile, keep your fingers crossed.  My son has his big tests tomorrow (comps), so we're saying prayers he does well.

Well, I thought I added a comment, but I don't see it.  Here it is again.  It looks like everyone would like to meet in February, so all you West Michigan Moms, we are going to meet at Arnie's Restaurant in Rockford, 34 Squires St., on Saturday, Feb. 26 at 1:30pm.  We will be seated on the main floor.  I will call ahead and have them set up an area for us.  All I need is to know how many will be coming in your group.  Husbands and others are also welcome to come.  Bring a picture of your Sailor and brag all you want!!  The phone # to Arnie's is 616-866-4306, in case you need to call the restaurant.  If I don't see any of you at the get together in Lansing next Sunday, I hope to see you at Arnie's!

It is stupid cold today.  Come on spring!

Dunesmom - my sons choice actually surprised me because he talked about the Army all through high school.  Then went Navy.  He is very interested in architecture and has strong family history of carpentry - grandfather, father, uncle & great uncle.  So I think he has it in his blood.

Good Morning All!  Yep Jaz my son feels the same way about the snow, wants to play in it but didn't thing coming home to shovel off the roof was to good of an idea.  Oh the Seabees, that was one of the jobs my son considered when he chose aircrew we were super suprized.  Always talked about the Seabees and i be your son likes it much better than cleaning alll the time, lol.. Feb is good for me too but again i'm always open.
Comment by Jaz04 on January 23, 2011 at 11:22am

Colleen, Feb is fine. Just need a date to put on my calendar and then I will work around that.  And I agree, running in this weather, seems crazy to me - a non runner, but you are great motivation.

My son wishes he could be home to drive around in this stuff.  I reminded him that he would have to help shovel and then he changes his mind lol.  He is bored now.  Hasn't really gotten to know too many in his battalion yet.  Maybe Seabee life is different than Sailor life.  He doesn't say too much about what he does on a daily basis.  To him it's his job and not much to say except he likes it compared to his janorital job he had before he left.

Colleen, I'd like to see Feb too if possible.

hmm Annette i think we in freezerburn michigan would like to send your Sailor lots of the white stuff.  problem... would be all warm water when it got  to him and if he is saying that's what he has already he might not appreciate it, lol.....Is there any Sailor that thinks anything is a big deal or is it just  us parents.  Oh some day they might understand....
