If you for any reason do not rent a car for PIR, keep this name and number handy:
Phil with Metro Group taxi service is very reasonable and is very reliable. I looked at shuttles and other cabs and he was by far the cheapest. $70 from MKE to Libertyville. His fare is cheaper if he picks you up/drops you off at O'Hare. Just want to share this source as he is not computer savvy and does not have a website. I booked him after he was recommended by the La Quinta in…

Booked our hotel and car last night. We are staying at the Quality Inn. It is 59.00 per night for 2 double beds. Renting a mini van from Hertz (When we have our SR in the car there will be 5 adults plus an infant in a car seat) for $56.00 per day.
I am thinking we are going to book flights from Southwest to Midway Airport (more time friendly flights than Milwaukee) The roundtrip airfare with taxes and everything is $226.75 per person. Does Southwest fly out of Abilene?
Hi,
I sent you an invitation. It should be in your inbox. :)
Sorry about the name mixup. Picked up the wrong name off of the comment wall. So hard to track conversations in here. Anyway, I will do some more checking about package deals for the train.
Shelley
Ok sure. It is called the Texas Eagle. And yes I believe the Eagle does leave from San Antonio. You would have to leave on Wednesday to get to PIR. The train gets in to Chicago on Thursday afternoon. Go to Amtrak and search for the Texas Eagle. $248.00 per person round trip.
I totally hear you about the wedding and strapped for cash. Our daughter got married last year. We did get our first grandchild out of the deal in November though so very much worth it!
Maybe our sons hang out. My son's name is Cody, I think there is also another Cody in his division from North Carolina. Hope you have a good week. We got another letter from Cody today. This one was dated 12/24. Made our day but he really sounds homesick. Take care.
We haven't decided what to do, because of the cost of Nonrefundable flight tickets--- we almost ordered Regular tickets yesterday (for 4 people), but were Afraid to, for the reason you stated... they could get sick, or not pass a test, & be set back 2 wks or so--- then we've not only lost our ticket money, but probably wouldn't have $ to buy any more... we're strapped for money as it is; our daughter just had a wedding in late Nov. ($$), then Christmas (small), then last wk. we paid property Taxes($$); and we're just about 'loaned-out', if you know what I mean! I hope we are able to go... but if we do, we have to Be careful & don't make any travel boo-boo's! Ha ha!! Last night I went to bed thinking, Let's see, What could we Sell??!
I wish we had trains here, but we don't have any passenger trains as before--- only the kind that haul oil, cotton,etc... How much does it cost to travel by train anyway?? We don't really want to drive that far, esp with the bad weather there, And the awful price of gas!--- plus your time! I wonder if there are any trains that leave from somewhere closer to us, like San Antonio?--- maybe we'll check that out... I'm glad you brought up that fact about trains.
My recruit (Joshua) has a Birthday on Jan.8th--- guess we'll miss his special day, for the first time in his Life. =( Hmmmnn... guess they get no special treatment on their Birthday, huh??!
Well, hope you have a great day!... I'm gonna finish putting up Christmas decor. today--- so much fun...! Ha!!
((hugs!)) Connie~
My son's name is Cody. We have not made our travel reservations yet. It costs so much to fly unless you can buy the non refundable tickets that we have decided not to fly. (Anything can set them back until they pass Battle Stations 21). We are also not thrilled with the prospect of driving in mid February since there will probably be ice and snow somewhere between here and there. I think we are going to take the train. Amtrak has a the Texas Eagle that leaves from Fort Worth. The fair is reasonable. Haven't decided where we are going to stay yet either but we are going to go ahead and make a reservation this week since there are 14 divisions in our PIR. Looking forward to meeting you.
