Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

A little about me:
I am a mother of 3 military children...my daughter and oldest son are Army Reservists and my youngest son, Jeremy "Jeb" is active duty Navy. He is graduating from boot camp at Great Lakes on March 9, 2012. I also have two stepchildren and one very amazing grandson from my daughter...my little Zachy! My Navy son, Jeb, is one of 2 out of his division that went in as an E-1 and was promoted to and E-3! One of two men!!! I am so incredibly proud of him and even more importantly is the fact that HE is finally proud of himself. His last letter to me said that he hasn't felt this good about himself EVER. And that is just so good for me to hear as a mom.
I am here to support my

Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy career?

When I heard “Navy,” I...
Was proud and encouraged it
The Navy offers opportunities that...
The confidence that they instilled in my son is overwhelming. He went into bootcamp nervous and afraid of failure and is leaving bootcamp as one of two who started at the lowest rank possible and will graduate at the highest rank possible. He went in with goals, and although he was nervous and thought he wouldn't accomplish them...he has done just that. He needed this and I am so happy for him...
Our Navy experience so far...
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

We have a Survival Guide for Navy For Moms Newbie (clickable link). You'll find everything you need to get started. Videos, PDF files of boot camp processing days, links to all the important groups plus tips on how to use this site. Keep in mind the videos and PDF files may take some time to download the first time you try it. It'll look like nothing is happening. Be patient. Best part is it'll be here on your very own page as a reference. Click the MY PAGE tab on above menubar to access your page anytime - you should do it at least once a day to see if you have any postings on your comment wall (like this one). Good luck.
