OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

No, the recruiter will not be able to get the password that you need to get the vehicle pass.  Write to your son and ask for the password (a word that you will enter in all capital letters once you open the link at http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/upcoming_grads.asp).  The link for his PIR date should be available on or about 24 September.  Your son decides who to write to and he addressed the box to you.  You may wish to send him a questionnaire and a self-addressed stamped envelope to get the answers you need since there are 3 weeks to PIR.  I adapted a questionnaire to be a 10 question one for you.  You can change questions if you want, but I kept it to one page rather than the longer ones available on the site since you need the info.  (Open BCQuestionnaire.doc for the questionnaire.)  If you do not get the password, then you will need to take a taxi or shuttle to the RTC or park across the street at the Metra and walk in.  The vehicle pass is only needed if you are driving onto the RTC.  I hope this information helps you.
