OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Hi, I just have a question, maybe someone has an answer. I just wonder if moms have any rights or benefits in the Navy. I know that wives do and I totally agree but my son has been in the Navy for 6…Continue

A little about me:
I'm a 2 year widow with 2 children, my son is the youngest and I also have an 8 month old grandson (who is precious to me) from my daughter. It is hard for me because my children have never been away from me at all, so this will be a new experience.

It's not a good idea to post a pic of your recruit every time you post. See change 4 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link). To increase PERSEC, don't include ANYONE in your profile picture.

Also make change 3 while you are there so that this page is no longer open to EVERYONE (Anyone) with access to the web.

There may be other changes you need to make as well (change 2???), so read and consider each of the changes.

Another change that I recommend that is mentioned in change 1 is to change the ZIP Code to one that is not easily associated with your Sailor.

Since you have a Sailor, you can change "Waiting to leave for Boot Camp" above to "Enlisted." You can make that change on the same page when you change the ZIP Code.

What is your Sailor's rating (job/specialty) and/or where is he stationed (what vessel, if one)? There may be groups I can direct you to.
