OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

My daughter left today!  I will be trying to wait patiently for my 30sec scripted phone call! I never imagined it to be this hard to let her go! I feel I am be selfish by all these tears but I am just being a mom! I have my 1st letter already written, just waiting for address.

Click on OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) and the Page will open in a new window. Read the Page and follow the directions at the bottom to make change 3 (see the words in bold) so that this page is no longer visible to EVERYONE (Anyone) with access to the web.

There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.

Another change that I recommend that is mentioned in change 1 is to change the ZIP code to one that is not easily associated with your Sailor.

There are no groups for just loved ones of Gas System Mechanic (GSM), but you may find some in Engineers, Snipe Moms, and Snipe Moms(enginers). You will also want to join Great Lakes A School Q&A and GL A-school moms. You can also check out the Training Support Center (TSC) Great Lakes Facebook Page.

The Rating Information Card for GSM can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/usn/enlisted/rating_info_cards/gsm.pdf. (If you get the security warning, it is safe to go there.)
