Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Admin Tip of the Day: Catherine The Admin Gets Stricter W/ Content

Hi Everyone :)
So, as we grow bigger and bigger I find myself becoming a bit more "conservative" when it comes to photos, videos… and yes, even content. I know, I know- I feel like I am being a prude…ish jerk. But I’m doing it for safety, privacy and, the community’s best interest in mind (IE in making sure that everybody feels comfortable here). Before I get e-mails on this– Please let me offer up the some solutions.
PHOTOS:
I need to be more selective on what goes on the front page. Because (1), we want a selection of different things and (2), we don’t want anything provocative, offensive, or a photos with no title, comments, or tags that could be taken out of context. You can have your own photo stream on your own wall- w/out my approval.
IE: As these members have done:
http://www.navyformoms.com/profile/MichelleTiffany (what’s nice about this… is you can create your own!)
http://www.navyformoms.com/profile/KimberlyRadford
http://www.navyformoms.com/profile/Lisa89 (Her top five photos in her profile)
Also. When it comes to photos- PRETTY PLEASE start adding titles, captions… and maybe a tag or two. Because sometimes I am thinking- what in the world am I looking at? And if I am thinking that- then 600 + people are thinking that.
VIDEOS:
Some you submit some great stuff… but I just need to be extra sensitive on what goes on the front page. It now needs to be Navy related only- (okay… I let the cute girls singing slip in…) But if you want to share a video that wouldn’t make it to the front page… you can do what Beverly has done…
http://www.navyformoms.com/profile/BeverlyStaton
Beverly has added videos from YouTube w/o my approval.
CONTENT:
Please remember my post from a few days ago:
http://www.navyformoms.com/profiles/blog/show?id=1971797%3ABlogPost%3A28405
I feel strongly about that post- and will re-link it where needed. And if negativity isn’t deleted by you- I will not hesitate to delete it. I think: negativity breeds negativity we do not want this place to make anyone feel that they cannot share with us. We absolutely want to support everyone and we know that people have bad days, but for the good of the community we need to be good to one another.
Also, if you want to write something- but you don’t want the whole world to see it- you can make a private blog. Just for you. Or just for you and your friends. When you write your blog- you have choice at the bottom of your screen:
Privacy & Comments
Who can view this post?
Everyone Just My Friends Just Me
Who can comment on this post?
Everyone Just My Friends Just Me

Please note, that you always contact me if you have any questions, concerns or comments. Sincerely, Catherine

When you click on your photos in your profile... on the bottom left you have these options:
From there you can add titles.
Rotate Photo
Edit Photo
Delete Photo

When you first upload your photos- there should be two steps- adding them, and then adding the information along with them.
