Navy For Moms

Well he tried the best he could to become a Sailor. But God must have another plan for Levi instead. The Guillian Barre has returned, the numbness is from toes to ankles. He met with a Neurologist, he will not need the IVIG for any further treatment, rest and moderate exercise is what is needed now. He has met with different personnel this past week from Medical Director to Social Workers. Next week he will have another complete physical just to see where he is at for further recommendation of care. He will be transferred to Ship 17 next week. He is coming to an acceptance and realizes he cannot do anymore than he already has. The numbness started 3 weeks ago and he did not say anything wanting to just finish. He will be on Ship 17 for awhile until things are processed and taken care of that will also take care of him down the road. His dad and I have a wonderful fairy godmother on this site who is helping guide us, along with God, in the right direction. I have appreciated all the prayers and support, I have received here and I also printed out the last Blog to Levi with your wondeful words of encouragement and prayer and sent it to him, he is just so amazed that even though he has not met you he is prayed for and thought of. I told him that all of the recruits and Sailors belong to all of us moms and that is what we do. So again I just wanted to say Thank you so very much. Frieda

Oh Frieda, I am so sorry to hear this, but as you say, God must have a different plan for him. Just see that the Navy will continue his care after he is discharged. You know by now that the kids can get through Ship 17 fine, with the good attitude and faith your son has. I just wrote a blog about something my son Matt did today, where his Navy training came in handy. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding, and He will direct your path.Big Hug for you and Levi.

My thoughts and prayers have been with you all. As we all know that god does hear our prayers but we must listen to the answers that he gives us no matter if this is not what we thought we wanted he knows what is best for us God bless you all

Frieda, I am praying for you and especially for Levi. I had never heard of Gilliam Barre until last week, when I visited one of my clients (I am a County Social Worker). She was young and had this condition. I had told myself I was going to research it, and then I saw your comments about Levi. Is he going to be considered a Veteran and receive care by the Navy?

Frieda, as a mother I know that you just want him back healthy. I don't know how long it takes. He has already surpassed anyone's expectation on healing. Now we will pray and pray and sit back and be amazed at what happens in HIS time. Thank you for showing us how to have faith.

Wow, what a bummer. I'm praying for Levi and for all of your family. Hugs and encouragement for the new path he, and you, have been placed.

Frieda,
Levi has fought for so hard and for so long. He needs to be home now, home to rest and recuperate with family and friends. Perhaps the Navy wasn't for him ... perhaps he will be able to come back to the Navy later, only God knows. Levi seems to me to be a very spiritual and determined young man. Again, I do feel certain that whatever is in the works for him, it will be in serving people. Please keep us apprised of his progress and direction. Levi will always be one of our boys! :) We love you Frieda, you have also gone through so much as a mother. You must be relieved to have some sort of resolution to this entire situation, and to know he will be coming home so you can help watch over him as he beats this syndrome. Keep your chin up, enjoy fussing over your boy, and fuss over him for us, too!
