Navy For Moms

I drove Vincent's car to Goose Creek (NNPTC) this past week. We left on Sunday, June 29th driving around 500 miles each day and arrived in Goose Creek on Wednesday, July 2nd.

Was able to go to dinner with Vincent on Wednesday and Thursday. He had the 4th off, so we had three whole days to spend with him. Needless to say, we drove around Charleston a bit and did some sightseeing, but mostly I wanted to be with Vincent.

He is due to graduate 9/26 so he can come home for about ten days after graduation. I can't wait.

I'm so glad that you had a safe trip and were able to spend the Fourth with him:)! Sounds like a very special time - and I'm sure you're looking forward to his trip home too, 10 days - how great:)! Hugs:)!

Kathy, Michdang, and Joyce,

Thank you for your comments. I did love seeing my son.
Kathy, I am planning to go to the Power School graduation next June. Vincent said they don't make a fuss for A School graduation, but they do for the Power School graduation.
Michdang, I stayed at the Sheraton in North Charleston, but don't recommend it. It was older Sheraton, but thought they would still be nice, but they were not. I found during the trip that Best Westerns were not great, too. I think Comfort Suites, Comfort Inn, Hampton Inn, Hampton Suites, and LaQuinta were pretty nice and mid-range in price. Goose Creek is North Charleston, so you can stay near the base or stay near the water, which is Charleston. The drive from downtown Charleston to the base isn't that far. I didn't pay attention to the temperature, it was hot but not uncomfortably hot and the humidity wasn't bad when we were there.

Dear McNavy Mom,
As you know, any time we can see our sailor is awesome and worth the trip. I don't know where you live, but from Phoenix it was 2,000 miles. I love to drive, so it wasn't that bad. I'm glad I went and took his car. He needs his independence and I have to stop worrying so much. At the corner to the entrance to the NNPTC, there was a wrecked car and wrecked motorcycle with a huge sign that said "Drink and Drive" next to the wrecks. I guess the Navy is looking out for our sailors in their fashion.
