Navy For Moms

Well i guess with reading the topic you all can imagine i got the box. I was very emotional, especially when I opened it and found everything in there, including his litte Address book what I was told he could keep :(. Even his Navy book they sent back. It felt so final :(.

Hi,
I got the box, of which I unpacked, sniffed, searched every nook and cranny for a note, refolded, put back in the box ,and closed up. But did not find Jims address book!?...

9 weeks later I still have the box. I'm still not ready to let go. His address book came back, too. And I thought that was weird. Come to find out, he tore the pages out that he wanted to keep and he send the rest back. I wonder how long I'll end up keeping "the box"?

I think right about now, I was curled up on my bed in the fetal position with the box next to me. I promise it gets better.

Hey Sue,
boy i sure hope so. With beeing an army wife for 20 years and Frg Leader for a few years it was hard for me to even open the box. I had to deliever a few boxes in the past few weeks it's hard to get over that. :(

That box was one of the hardest things ever for me as a mom. I thought to myself, what have I just let happen here. I left my box in tact for weeks. No one was allowed to touch it. It also included a piece of paper that he had the sailors' creed on and the general orders. He was going to try to memorize them on the plane. They must have been told everything needs to be sent back in the box without exception. He wore old ratty sneakers that we agreed he would throw away once he got there. Well they came back in the box too. If you haven't already received it, you should get your form letter next, then your first real phone call. It gets better with each step. Hugs.
