OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Dearest Members:

(1)Yes! Somebody alerted me that chat is down. Sadly, I will not have it fixed until early next week. I have to get my techie guys on this... and they are off for the weekend.

(2) I think I find myself typing this often on member's walls:
Your comment below hasn't been seen by anyone- they aren't alerted if you write on your own wall. Please copy your text, click on the icon(s) of the member(s) you want to respond to, and paste your text on their wall. From there they will be alerted. Sincerely, Catherine
Moral of the story. If you see this happen, and I haven't caught it yet- please let the person know. Or sometimes- I just copy and paste the message on the right members wall and I write something like "Mail Call".

(3) There has been some fantastic things being posted in The Daily Brief and Links 101. Also- if you haven't checked out our Sailor Stories please do! Today I posted this one... about a Seabee!

(4) Ahh- I love birthdays- I really do. But ( I know there is always one eh?)
Please, please please- let's not say the exact dates of our sailors birthday. We must be very sensitive that this is a public site- and we have asked that Navy if we could do a cute birthday calendar and they came back saying- no. That kind of information would link to many dots for the public at large (and we don't want to risk any kind of idenity thief of our sailors)- Thus, Let's be careful okay? Now if you are thinking- OMG- I have posted this information- you can probably delete it or edit it to make it more "watered" down. Happy Birthday to my son who is a Leo. Or My Favorite Aug. Birthday. I think Steve's Mom did start a Birthday group that abides by these rules... and I don't know much about it- other than it exists.

(5) I like you all. Please have a safe and enjoyable weekend!

Peace, Love, Respect, and Happiness-
Sincerely, Catherine
