Navy For Moms

Vincent came home after finishing A School for a week. I was so happy to see him at the airport. He picked me up when I went to hug him and carried me a few steps. I think he was happy to see me, too. :) It has been wonderful having him home. Yes, he has changed, grew up and became much more mature than when he left in February. He has been a great help around the house. He would do things without being asked and just trying to lighten my load. I was always proud of him, but now I am speechless. The visit is wonderful and I am enjoying it, but soon it will be over.

Hi Hiromi,
My name is Maureen, and my son is in A school, at GL. He PIR'd on 7/24. He will be in GL, till feb/March of 09. He will be going to IC school. Is your son a diver? What is he doing in the navy. Your blog made me cry, as I miss my young son sooo much. I haven't seen him since he PIR'dand it seems like an eternity. He'll be home for Christmas, and i can't wait to hug and hold him! Jake is 20yrs old, and I stillview him as my little boy! He's so home sick. It has been a hard adjustment for me, as he wmpty nested me, but i realize that he needed to spread his wings, and grow up. I was in the navy, myself, and his Dad is retired Navy. Jake grew up on military bases. I have two sons, and one is 24, and a grandaughter, who's four.

Hi Maureen,
Nice to meet you. Vincent is also 20 years old. He is a Nuke EM. He's going back to SC for more schooling. He was told he cannot be a diver because he does not have 20/20 vision. He was very disappointed as his dad was a diver in the Navy. I also view Vincent as my little boy still, but am careful not to treat him as a little boy. I'm sure you are the same way. They don't like it if we do. Thank you, your husband, and Jake for serving in the Navy. My dad retired from the Navy, too. I think being a Navy brat was good for me and made me more grounded. I have two daughters age 34 and 23 living away from home, so when Vincent left for the Navy, I was very sad.
