Navy For Moms

All I want for Christmas...how often have we finished that sentence with a selfish request. All I want for Christmas is a new washer, a big screen tv, new clothes, jewelry, my sailor home. It's not meant to be again this year. When he called Friday he said "Mom, we won't be home for Christmas, Kandas's leave was denied so I cancelled mine." "I understand, I said, we will just leave the decorations up again for as long as it takes and celebrate Christmas when you get here." We talked awhile longer and after we hung up, I felt such disappointment and a little sad. Another Christmas without him. I've already put in for vacation days. I was going to spend a whole glorious week hanging out with my son and getting to know my new daughter in law. Now what am I going to do? Well, a few months ago I would have thrown myself a big pity party but not any more. Why? I know a very large group of women who may need me that week. Some of them have been waiting to see their loved one a lot longer than I have. Some of them saw their loved one yesterday and now find themselves completely cut off for the first time. Some know their loved one is in a war zone. Some have no idea where their loved one is. And some have even lost their loved one. All of these women are right here on N4Ms. And I'll be here for them. They are my sisters, my friends, my loved ones.

Yeah! I'm with you. My sailor won't be home either but I know where he will be and I know he will be safe. That's quite a gift in my book.

Lisa, what a touching post. I will not see my sailor either...and he is getting married in VA in December! (Long story for another post.)

Sorry you won't see your son Leann but glad to have the company during the Holidays. Maybe we could decorate a "room" for Christmas and have a party right here. I'll work on it when it gets closer to Christmas. :)
