On 7/11/17 my baby girl left on her journey to boot camp, it's something she's always wanted to do

so as her mom I'm going to support her life choices, I did my crying away from her but we did share a mommy daughter moment the night before where she told me the hardest part is leaving me.  It's

hard, but I know I raised Keyana well and I know she has been preparing her mind and her body for this day.  Not being to talk to her is the hardest part for me the longest she's been away is when she went to Navy camp last year for a week. I received her box yesterday and I was wondering if the address on the box is where we send the letters or do I need to call and find out the address where she is bunked at.  Any advice from you ladies is welcomed, look forward to chatting with you

Good Morning!  After you get the box, a couple of days later you will receive a form letter with their address as well as people your SR put down for PIR.  The address you get  in the form letter will be where you can send letters.  Also, the PIR date will be listed.  Keep this form letter as there will be a password for parking on base for graduation.  Good luck to your SR and Congratulations!

My daughter also left on the same day. I received my box yesterday and now waiting on my form letter. I so miss hearing laugh and her voice. Looking forward to my call when we can actually talk.

It will be a few weeks before they are able to make a call.  My daughter just graduated and is now at "A" school.  As soon as you get your form letter, send them one.  Also, share her address with friends and family and ask them to write your recruit.  It does wonders for their morale knowing that so many people support them.  They are allowed letters, cards, and postcards.  No gifts or food.  The time will pass quickly, and before you know it graduation will be here.  You will be so amazed at the new person you will see at the end.  Best of luck to you and your future sailor.

Arrival and What Happens at the RTC will let you know what is happening and what to expect.

cjtizzy55 and all, SR stands for "Seaman Recruit" and is what all recruits are considered while in BC regardless of what they will be after BC. There are "Sailors" and there are "Recruits", but there is no such thing as a "Sailor Recruit." See the Page, What does ??? mean? (A Guide to Navy Abbreviations and Terminology), to help you with many of the new terms you will come across.
