Received The Form Letter, thoughts on the process

My recruit shipped 5/10 to BC but his letter to grandparents (glad he wrote them first) said he was delayed and holding until 5/23 when the ship was full.  He is in ship 12.  His form letter has two grad dates....7/6 and 7/13.  I assume that I go with the 7/13 date?  How do we know for sure?  No correspondence from him at all.

I miss my son although he was a righteous, lazy, unfocused  pain in the keister while home.  We could not tolerate his choices or behavior and he longed for the NAVY two years ago.  He had to find his way there to figure it out.  Hopefully this will give him focus and purpose, a career or at least training and structure.  I am sure other families are in the same boat as we are.

For all you family members fretting and worrying, I do too.  I love my son.  I have written daily.  I mail one or two letters a day or every other day.  Talking about the regular stuff at home I think will help.  In his letter to grandparents, he said "food takes like a mix of sand and toilet paper."  Realize all you grandmas, aunts and moms, that NOBODY does it better than we do.  Keep cooking the way you do.

My son has not lived at home since February of this year and I still cannot go into his room without falling apart.  I need to pack it up, paint and patch the walls, put away his old life.  I feel paralyzed to do so.  Grief, fear, sadness, pride and anger grip me daily.  Why couldn't he figure himself out sooner?  He is old for a recruit...will turn 21 while in BC.  I PRAY with all my heart that his life goes well and he stays focused on being a good sailor, an honest and hard working man who loves his family.

I hope he writes.  There is so much to know about so little!  I think it is a mom's nature to worry, fret, hover and want to know how all her kids are doing, no matter the relationship turmoil or hardships.  They are still our kids.  Sometimes we just need to differentiate our mom role.

Good Morning Tweenmanager, I completely understand how you are feeling, went thru this almaost a year ago and what is so funny I just posted on Boot camp moms how I felt and what I mess I was and as I was writing it tears were streaming down my face. As far as his PIR date and Div. as soon as he knows you will be informed of the correct one when you both speak. Keep your head up Ma'am things will work out and your day will come. And I can tell you on my perspective no matter how old they are they are still your babies, I know that is how I feel, so there is no right or wrong way in how a Mother is suppose to feel. Have a Great Day!

You can check the PIR date by looking for his division number in http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/graduation.html#grad_dates.

@lemonelephant Do you know how often they update the list? My son's graduation date is 7/20/2018, but no divisions listed yet.

http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/graduation.html#grad_dates used to be updated every Friday or Monday, but it has not been updated in a few weeks.
